Union govt. increases per Student Mid-Day Meal expenditure

1. Under the scheme of Mid-Day meal the government has increased the per day per student cooking expenditure as – at

primary level from 3.34 to 3.59 rupee, and upper primary form 5 to 5.58 rupee.

2. The mid-day meal scheme aims at raising the nutrition level of the children.

3. The scheme was initially launched on 15th August 1995. However, in 1997, and 2002 the scheme was enhanced and

launched in government aided schools too.

Centre govt. imposes penalty on reliance for producing less natural gas

1. The center government has imposed $579 million penalty on the Reliance Industries for its non-compliance in producing

the natural gas below target in the KG D6 block.

1. With an aim of providing financial assistance to the widows and persons with disabilities the “Chief Minister’s Social Assistance (CMSA) Scheme has been launched in Meghalaya by the state government.

2. The scheme was launched by the Meghalaya’s Chief Minister Mr. Mukul Sangma. 3. Under the CMSA scheme beneficiaries will get 500 rupees per month. 4. Under the CMSA scheme the age limit is 58 years for women and 60 for men. However,
