Indian Lose maritime territory to Bangladesh under UN Ruling

1. A United Nations Tribunal has awarded Bangladesh 19, 467 square km of the disputed maritime territory of Bay of Bengal.

2. The Bangladesh got the territory from the 25, 602 km disputed territory in the Bay of Bengal.

3. The UN Tribunal pronounced its verdict on the case filed by Bangladesh in 2009 under the UN convention on Law of Sea (UNCLOS), now the judgment given by the UN Tribunal is binding on both the sides.

Union govt. increases per Student Mid-Day Meal expenditure

1. Under the scheme of Mid-Day meal the government has increased the per day per student cooking expenditure as – at

primary level from 3.34 to 3.59 rupee, and upper primary form 5 to 5.58 rupee.

2. The mid-day meal scheme aims at raising the nutrition level of the children.

3. The scheme was initially launched on 15th August 1995. However, in 1997, and 2002 the scheme was enhanced and

launched in government aided schools too.

Centre govt. imposes penalty on reliance for producing less natural gas

1. The center government has imposed $579 million penalty on the Reliance Industries for its non-compliance in producing

the natural gas below target in the KG D6 block.

CM Social Assistance (CMSA) Scheme launched in Meghalaya

1. With an aim of providing financial assistance to the widows and persons with disabilities the “Chief Minister’s Social Assistance (CMSA) Scheme has been launched in Meghalaya by the state government.

2. The scheme was launched by the Meghalaya’s Chief Minister Mr. Mukul Sangma. 3. Under the CMSA scheme beneficiaries will get 500 rupees per month. 4. Under the CMSA scheme the age limit is 58 years for women and 60 for men. However,

Government Approves 49% FDI in Insurance Sector

1. The union government in a bid to make government more accountable and involve people in governance has launched an online portal “MyGov”.

2. MyGov will be implemented and managed by National Informatics Center (NIC).

Deccan Chronicle Holding case: RBI penalizes 12 Banks

1. In the wake of sidelining RBI guidelines (in Deccan Chronicle group matter in which banks did not follow guidelines in giving loan to the same group in 2013) RBI has imposed rupees 1.5 crore Indian rupee as penalties on 12 banks.

2. These banks includes – SBI Hyderabad, Yes Bank, HDFC, ICICI, IDBI, Ratnakar Bank, Kotak Mahindra, IndusInd bank, Corporation bank, Axis bank, and Andhra bank.

Union govt. Launches Rashtriya Gokul Mission

1. For the conservation and promotion of indigenous breed of cows the Union Government has launched “Rashtriya Gokul Mission”.

2. For the same project govt. will invest rupee 150 crore in 2014-15. And total of 500 crore in 12th five year plan.

3. Under the project govt. has plan for opening cattle centers as “Gokul Gram”.

Union Finance Ministry gave its nod to set up rape crisis centers

1. Union Ministry of Women and Children Development has proposed a plan for setting up of rape crisis centers for providing legal and medical services to the victims of sexual assault.

2. The proposal seeks to establish 660 centers initially throughout the country.

RBI cancels license of 6 NBFC

1. Reserve Bank of India has canceled licenses of 6 Non-banking financial companies.

2. These NBFC includes – Credible Microfinance Ltd., Swank Service Pvt., Two Brothers Holding, Profound Exports, GE Strategic Investments India, and Praxis Consulting and Information Services.

3. All the 6 NBFC are Delhi based. 4. The reason for revoking the licenses of these NBFC has not been mentioned by

the RBI.

Arup Raha appointed as COSC

1. Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha has been appointed as the new Chairman of Chief of Staff Committee (COSC).

2. He replaces Army Chief General Bikram Singh as the chief of COSC. 3. The chief of COSC is always selected from the Chiefs of Indian Army, Navy or Air

NASA’s rover Opportunity creates history

1. The rover Opportunity, sent by NASA for exploring the Red Planet, has traveled the longest distance on an alien land/ planet.

2. So far it has traveled 25 miles on the Red Planet. 3. With this the Opportunity rover has broken the record of “Lunokhod 2”, which

traveled 24 miles on Moon, of longest distance traveling on an alien planet.

1. Renowned Hindi writer and the pioneer of Samantar Kahani Andolan, Madhukar Singh, has passed away at the age of 87.

1. Hospitality Sector has been grated the Infrastructure by the DEA. 2. Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) is the prime body responsible for

NSSO’s report on Manufacturing Sector Employment

1. The National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO) in its latest report on Manufacturing sector employment has revealed that the manufacturing sector accounts only for 126 persons out of 1000 employed in country.

2. Overall the manufacturing sector employment is highest in Daman & Diu with 628 persons employed in the same sector.

3. Among states West Bengal has highest portion of the same with 227 persons employed in manufacturing sectors out of 1000 person.
