We will be hosting our second Fun Night at the club on July 11. This event is designed for members and guests to participate in a fun 9 hole golf event,

followed by a great dinner and many raffle prizes. The format for the next event will be a 4 man scramble

and each team is encouraged to have at least 1 guest (non-member). Everyone will receive a raffle ticket for participating.

We will award additional raffle tickets to winners of our on course contests including closest to the pin, longest drive and straightest drive, as well as low teams.

Putting green maintenanceWe have resurfaced half of the putting green with

Mini-Verde Bermuda grass, using a spriggingprocess that we plan to utilize for the futureresurfacing of greens complexes on the golf course.This will provide us with first-hand knowledgeand much useful information, such as: 1. Expected time frame for resurfacing from thebeginning of the project, to the point when we canexpect to open the green back up for use.2. The expected condition of the greens surface thatMini-Verde grass will provide once grow in occurs.3. Expectations of how Mini-Verde grass will thrivein our soil and in our specific environment, prior toresurfacing all greens on the golf course.The resurfacing of the putting green consisted of

stripping the sod on half of the green, applyingchemicals to the soil for sterilization (whichresulted in the closing of the entire putting greenfor approximately 1 week), refloating the contoursof the green with approximately 4 inches of USGAspecified greens soil mix and sprigging the surfacewith Mini-Verde bermuda grass for grow-in. Thegreen will now be heavily watered until the grow-in is complete, so please be aware that thesprinklers may come on as they are set on timers.It is very important that we keep people off of theresurfaced side of the putting green until we re-open it for play. The expectation is to reopen theentire putting green in late August.

cart path bridges repairWe will also begin a maintenance project to repair

the cart path bridges located on holes #17 and #18.Over the 20 years since the course was built, thetimbers on these two bridges have deteriorated dueto their direct exposure to the elements. Our planis to remove the “old”, damaged wood andreplaced them with new, treated lumber. Theproject is planned for early morning hours tominimize the effect to regular play. However, wemay have to re-route or close portions of thoseholes during the project. We appreciate yourcooperation and apologize for any inconvenience.Gordon WilliamsGolf Course Superintendant

1. All walkers are expected to walk the entire golfcourse. Walkers who are found standing on theback of a cart or riding in the cart at anytimeduring their round will be charged a cart fee fortheir round. 2. Members will be required to use a golf cart forall tournament rounds (except Club Championship& Senior Club Championship).

coosaw creek country club Pace of Play PolicyIn an effort to improve the enjoyment of the

round for all of our members and guests, pleasemake sure to follow our pace of play policy.

1.Any groups playing with 2 players or singles onweekends and holidays until 10am, will be pairedup with other groups when possible. This mayrequire a delay to the start of play from thereserved tee-time. At the discretion of the golfshop staff and based on availability, groups with 2players or less may be allowed to play but areexpected to hold their position on the golf course,directly behind the group in front of them.2.The expected pace of play at Coosaw Creek is 4hours and 15 minutes. All play starting before10am on weekends and holidays is expected tomaintain this pace of play. A group out of positionwill be notified that they are out of position. If thatgroup fails to regain their position on the course,the group will be directed to skip forward to regaintheir position. Any groups who fail to finish theirround of golf within the expected pace of play willnot be permitted to play in the members only tee-time block on weekends and holidays.

We hope that these policies will help increase thelife and reduce the maintenance needs of our golfcars, as well as improve the pace of play andenjoyment of the round during our peak playtimes.

OF VANDALISM. ANYONE FOUND VANDALIZING PROPERTY WITHIN COOSAW CREEK WILL BE PROSECUTED

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, WITHOUT REGARD TO THEIR AGE.

Due to the increase of occurrences of vandalism within the community and the Club during summer months, theClub and HOA will be working together to increase security patrols by staff, off duty police officers and NorthCharleston Police. Specific areas that will have increased monitoring and surveillance include the playground, pool,tennis & basketballs courts and Club house, as well as routine golf course patrols. New web based surveillancecameras have also been installed at the pool and the playground to help identify anyone involved in suspiciousand/or illegal activity at the Club.

ALL PLAYERS MUST REGISTER IN THE GOLF SHOP PRIOR TO STARTING PLAY. Anyone found on thecourse, playing or practicing without checking in will be charged the full golf rate for a first offense. Secondoffenses will result in prosecution for trespassing. Please help us by notifying the North Charleston Police if anysuspicious activity is witnessed within the community or on Club property.

players make today is having too much handaction with their pitch shots around the green.When you over utilize your hands and wristsyou will lose feel and control of the club. If youcan minimize hand and wrist action in the shortgame, you will see more consistency with ballflight providing you with the necessarydistance control required to score well. The keyto focus on is feeling your body rotating aroundyour left leg, and making sure to rotate yourchest toward the target, allowing the rotation ofyour torso to pull your arms and club throughto the target. This will keep your arms outof the shot and force you to make a swing withthe core and body instead of with your hands.If you want to change the loft or spin of yourpitch shots, you simply need to adjust theclubface and ball position.

Golf ProShop hours are 7AM-7PMeveryday.• During golf play hours of 7AMto dusk only Pro Shop authorizedgolfers and the Club maintenancestaff are allowed on the courseand cart paths.• Personal golf carts, skate boardsor other personal motorizedvehicles are not permitted on thecourse or cart paths at anytime.• Golfers are expected to dressappropriately. Men must wearcollared shirts (sorry-no denimallowed on the Golf Course). Forwomen shirts without collarsmust have sleeves, and shirtswithout sleeves must havecollars. Soft spikes are required.• Dog walkers, permitted beforeor after golf hours, must carryand use pooper scoopers andkeep pets off of tees, fairways,greens and bunkers. • The course is open for publicplay daily, but all play must beapproved by the proshop prior tobeginning on the course.

• Any unapproved play, practiceor abuse observed on the coursemay result in suspension of Clubprivileges and/or fines.

goLF PracTicE FaciLiTY –The Practice Areas are open duringnormal Golf Course hours except forposted regularly scheduledmaintenance times. Practice areasinclude the Driving Range, ChippingGreen, Practice Sand Bunker, PuttingGreen and teaching area.• Teaching is provided exclusivelyby the Coosaw Creek ProfessionalGolf Staff.• All practice must be approved bythe Pro Shop staff.• Practice balls may be picked up(Members) or purchased in the ProShop.• Range balls and bags are theproperty of Coosaw Creek CountryClub and shall not be removed fromclub property. • Proper Attire is the same as for theGolf Course.

cooSaW crEEK coUNTrYcLUBhoUSE is Coosaw Creek’scommunity center featuring fullservice dining, Bar, Meeting Roomsand Pro Shop. In addition tosupporting the many social functions

of theMembers,theClubhousebanquetfacilitiesareavailable to

Members and the public formeetings, parties, weddings andother celebrations. Take-out and callahead service is also available.• Quality denim or golf shorts areallowed in the clubhouse unlessspecified otherwise for specialevents. Men must wear collaredshirts for dining events on Fridaysand Saturdays, and all day onSundays in the dining room. Shoesand shirts must be worn at all times.Cover ups must be worn over Swimattire.

Facility Use GuidelinesAs summer approaches Coosaw Creek Country

Club’s facility use will increase especially with ourample amenities including the Swimming Pooland Pavilion, Tennis Courts, Golf Course,Basketball Court and Clubhouse. We encourageall of our members to take advantage of thevarious fun activities and facilities available tothem. To assure a safe and enjoyable and safeexperience for all it is important to note thefollowing guidelines:

SWimmiNg PooLS Open from Memorial Day

Weekend until Labor Day Weekend,the Swimming Pool is staffed withlifeguards during published hoursand is available for open swim (atyour own risk) when lifeguards arenot present.• Please observe and follow all rulesposted in the pool area.• All instructions from pool staffand/or lifeguards must be obeyed.• All Food or Beverages must bepurchased from the Club, unlessprior approval has been obtainedfrom the General Manager.• Pool closes at 9:00 PM except forspecial events.

PoNdS – Coosaw Creek’sbeautiful ponds have been stockedwith fish - but beware of snakes,alligators and other wildlife.• The course ponds are part of a

larger low country wooded wetlandarea. Please respect this incredibleasset and avoid contaminating itwith any foreign materials or liquids.• Fishing is allowed only from thebank and only in designated areas.These areas have been selected toensure that people fishing are not inthe normal flight of golf balls andthat ponds can be approachedwithout crossing the course or usingthe cart paths. They are located:• BEHIND THE PLAYGROUND –Approach from McChune Court • HOLE 15 – Approach from ArthurHills Circle • HOLE 16 – Approach from ClubCourse Drive • HOLE 17 – Approach from PowerLine Break

junior and adult tennis instruction at Coosaw Creek CountryClub during the summer. I am a junior in college attending theUniversity of Mississippi and pursuing a degree in biology andclassical studies. I have been playing tennis for almost eightyears now and I love the sport. I have had the pleasure ofplaying under coach Heinz Maurer (former Coosaw CreekTennis Instructor) at Pinewood Prep for 4 years, winning onestate championship and making it to playoffs yearly. I also took3 years of private lessons with coach Heinz, developing mygame to the point it is at now. While in high school I playedboth varsity tennis as well as USTA tournaments, securing astate ranking. I now teach clinics and private lessons during theschool year at the University of Mississippi, as well as playingfor the Ole Miss club tennis team. I also recently attended aUSPTA convention in Mt.
