Questions for Deeper Reflections:

Question for Children: If you could be with Jesus,

what would you trade from your own things for that?

Question for Youth: Today’s gospel reminds us that

God’s kingdom is worth sacrifice. What do you need

to sacrifice in order to follow God in your own life?

Why are you willing to make that sacrifice?

Question for Adults: Using Jesus’ parable as your

starting point, describe in your own words what the

Reign of God is for you personally, and use a parable

to describe it: “The reign of God is _____.” - Lifelong Catechesis

If there is a family member you wish to be placed on the list, please contact the Parish Bulletin at 732-780

Almighty and eternal God, those who take refuge in you will be glad

and forever will shout for joy. Protect these soldiers as they discharge their duties.

Protect them with the shield of your strength and keep them safe from all evil and harm.

May the power of your love enable them to return home

in safety, that with all who love them, they may ever praise you for your loving care.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

EXPECTATIONS AS WE PREPARE TO GATHER FOR MASS

Parishioners can choose which Mass they will attend. Enter through the center main doors. There will be personnel there to insure that each person is wearing their mask and to advise that social distancing is to be observed when entering/exiting, selecting a seat, processing/recessing to receive Holy Communion. It will require all to come earlier than usual to be processed and to search for seating that observes social distancing. Because of this entrance will be restricted once the Mass has begun.

Masks and Social/Physical distancing are required.

There can be no physical collection of Stewardship Offerings; Two designated boxes will be placed in the Narthex/Gathering Space for the placement of envelopes or offerings. Thank you for your generosity.

Missals, Missalettes, Bulletins, and other papers have been removed.

Holy Water has been drained from all locations.

Parish Clergy will distribute Holy Communion; we ask all coming forth to observe distancing front to back and side to side.

We have been advised that socializing before or after the Mass inside or outside is to be discouraged; clergy are not permitted to greet parishioners before or after the Mass.

For all parishioners:

Congregating before and after Mass is prohibited, as per the bishop. There will be no children’s liturgy of the word dismissal. Volunteers are greatly needed to wipe down the wood of the pews after all Masses (weekend and

weekday). We will have a cleaning crew take care of the floors, bathrooms etc, but need this little bit of additional help. Please contact Andrew if you are able.

At weekday Masses, no one is to arrive prior to 8:30 AM. All Masses will be in the Chapel in the Parish Hall.

Exposition remains suspended for now. Private adoration of the Blessed Sacrament reserved in the tabernacle is welcomed and encouraged at any time.

Make Me an Instrument of Your Peace: A Prayer for Civility

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where uncivil words prevail, show me how to model love.

Help me remember the God-given dignity of all and invite others to do the same.

Show me how to build bridges and not walls and see first what unites us rather than how we diverge.

Let me seek to understand before asking to be understood. Give me a listening heart filled with empathy and compassion.

May I be clear in sharing my own position and respectful and civil in describing those of others.

Let me never tolerate hateful ideas. May I invite all to charity and love.

Lord, help me to imitate your compassion and mercy. Make me an instrument of your peace.

Amen. Inspired by Nine Rules for Civility from the Catholic Tradition, Bishop Zubik Copyright © 2019, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

GIVING GUIDELINES FOR PRAYERFUL REFLECTION

Of all the ways we are asked to be generous, giving from our treasure - giving money - can

sometimes be the most challenging. God understands this. He calls us to tithe for this reason. Giving money to charity will do much

good, but the most good it will do is free us from our attachment to money. This frees us to

serve God and draw closer to Him.

Tithing challenges us to see the difference between what we need and what we want. This is important for our spiritual well being.

Tithing means giving 10% from our gross wages or income. We strive to give 5% to our

parish, and 5% to the needs of the greater Church and world – other charities. Giving freely is an important tool to develop in our journey to draw closer to Christ. For most, it takes time

to reach a full tithe.

THANK YOU for the Sacrificial Stewardship Offerings as we support the ministries, programs and facilities of our parish. May God Bless you for the sacrifices that you make.

We welcome all your generous donations to

Saint Mary Parish.

As a reminder, loose cash offerings at Mass cannot be traced to any individuals and therefore not considered for

end of year statement of charitable contributions.

We suggest to ALWAYS use your offering envelopes or to sign up for online giving at https://goo.gl/w4oTes . Alternatively there are blank envelopes available in church where you can fill in your name so your donations can be properly posted to your account.

In an effort to be good stewards the goal of Saint Mary Parish is to have parishioners utilize the online giving system. Quarterly offertory envelopes are mailed to those that have recorded their request with the Parish Office.

If you have any questions, please contact the parish office at 732-780-2666 .

Thank you for taking this matter into consideration!

crises. The next program begins the weekend of August 14-16 at the Family Life Center in Malvern, PA. For more information, or to register, visit www.HelpOurMarriage.org or call 215-766-

Plant some seeds of kindness, encouragement, affirmation and hope this week. Someone you know or live with needs one of those seeds. Even if you never see them flower, you’ll have planted something good and holy. That’s how the Spirit grows the Kingdom. Rev. Msgr. Richard La Verghetta

Food For Thought: We can be so impulsive, so quick to judge, so ready to rip out anything we think is wrong, deformed and ugly within ourselves and others. How many times are we too quick to point out a fault in a loved one? A husband points out a fault to his wife and vice versa, parents to kids and vice versa, kids to kids, friends to friends, bosses to workers. We want what’s best for our loved ones, but sometimes we don’t have the patience to let that develop. Jesus tells stories about things that take time and He says the Kingdom of Heaven is like that. Can we cultivate in our marriages and relationships and families an environment of acceptance and patience? And how about with God? God is so patient with us! How patient are we with God?
