ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAMThanks to an “Artist in Residence” grant from the Rancho CucamongaCommunity & Arts Foundation and an outreach grant from Target, we’ve beenable to send artists into Rancho Cucamonga schools for a few “hands-on”workshops in conjunction with our MainStreet Theatre Company productions. This season, teaching artist David Prather used Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse andThe Gingerbread Man as jumping off points for teaching K-2nd gradersabout theatre. Fourth and Fifth graders have been learning songwritingskills from Opera singer Ann Noriel as a preview for seeing this production ofAnne of Green Gables. These workshops, along with the study guides that weprovide for all of our performances, help to enhance the regular schoolcurriculum with experiences in the arts. We’re hoping to offer more outreachopportunities next season. If you’re a teacher in a Rancho Cucamonga schooland would be interested in participating in our outreach sessions, pleasecontact Mireya “Murry”Hepner at 909-477-2775.
