He Sent Them Out Two By Two – A Christian is not called to “go it alone” in this life, no mat-ter the circumstances. While sometimes we are tempted to just do it ourselves, in reality Jesus encourages us to invite others into our lives through faith and trust in God and with love. In

today’s Gospel we learn of the amazing things the apostles are able to do as they go out in pairs, trusting in the Lord to provide for their needs and for the needs of others through them. They are able to drive out demons and heal the sick, and they invite other to follow Jesus through their words and deeds. We are called to share in the mission of Christ and his Church today, yet we are not individually committed to this task. As members of the Body of Christ we work together to make Jesus present in the world. On Mission for The Church Alive! is an opportunity for us to grow in faith and friendship so that together we can form vibrant communities that share God’s life with others. Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed.

JULY 15, 2018

Last weekend, Our Lady of Grace Parish was the victim of, what the IT people call, ‘spoofing.’ Several OLG parishioners were sent an e-mail with a false address using my name. The fraudulent e-mail requested their immediate help with a problem. If the parishioner responded, they were then asked to purchase gift cards for someone going through cancer treatment at the hospital. This ‘spam/phishing’ e-mail is a scam. Other parishes in our diocese were also victimized, as well as the Diocese itself. Unfortunately, last week’s bulletin was already sent to the publisher on Monday morning due to the July 4th holiday. So, we could not include this warning in that bulletin. We did send 600-700 e-mail alerts to the parishioners on our e-mail contact list cautioning them about this scam. We also alerted Most Rev. Fred Cain, our Regional Vicar, who, in turn, informed us that other parishes had also been victimized. We further alerted the Communications and IT offices in the Diocese of Pittsburgh so that they could warn parishes throughout the Diocese. With the help of some IT specialists we are conducting our own investigation to try and locate the perpetrator of this scam. Of course, our parish and school employees have been informed and are compiling a file of everyone who has been similarly ‘spoofed.’ Whoever did this targeted OLG volunteers who had recently e-mailed a group of our parishioners. My name as pastor and their names and e-mail addresses were available to the perpetrator on-line through the publication of our bulletin, web-site and Facebook page. So, please do not respond to this e-mail scam if you are approached on the internet. Fr. Richard A. Infante Pastor
