Homecoming Sunday and the beginning of a
New Sermon Series
New sermon series begins this Sunday!
Relay for Life – San Clemente Join the SCPC Steppin’
Forward team at the San Clemente High School July 25-26, 2015. At
this wonderful event, participants can take a turn walking around the
football field for one hour, so that a vigil of hope and support is kept
going for a full 24 hours! The day begins with a survivors' lap, and there
is a very moving luminaria candlelight vigil for one hour in the eve-
ning. There are speakers, local singers and musicians, hourly activities,
and lots of great fellowship! Please contact Katie Robinson (on the
patio, by phone at 949-361-0168, or at [email protected]) to
sign up for any hour you want to come. Let's see if we can keep
our relay team going all day!
MEN OF SCPC
It has been a long time coming, but we are thrilled to announce that a
date has been set for the annual MENS RETREAT. This will be held
the weekend of October 9 to 11, 2015 at the Palo Mesa Resort and
Golf Course down in Fallbrook, California – a 45 minute drive from
San Clemente. We will start with a Friday night dinner and devotional
and end Sunday morning with breakfast and worship service at the
resort. This will be a wonderful opportunity and time for the men of
our church to have fellowship, sing to the LORD, and get spiritually
rejuvenated. Our guest speaker will be announced later in July. A
limited number of partial scholarships will be available. Please
contact Dick Veale at 949-600-3226 or Gary Mogster at 949-366-6577
or Hal Barnett at 949-498-3902 or sign up at the church office or

CHIEFS MINISTRY
MAIZE MILL
The Y-Malawi US partners helped
fund the building of a Maize Mill,
which is owned by the Chiefs
Ministry. This is a creative way to help offset the cost of their
ministry and provides a wonderful service to the community. What
would normally take hours to grind the maize down to flour for nsima, only takes minutes. A
Y-Malawi Board Member visited the mill in July and was encouraged to see a waiting line
outside the mill.
Chiefs Ministry leader, Amos Chibisa, wrote this note to the Y-Malawi partners,
“Brethren, Help us thank God for a successful Maize Mill engine resizing which has proved the
best Maize Mills in that part of Chilenje ADP producing the best maize flour in than other
mills. The Chiefs Ministry again and again remember Y-Malawi in prayers for the
funding, may God bless Y-Malawi and its Church members and individuals.”

Ministry Support
Dear SCPC Family,
Our fiscal year ended on June 30. As you are probably aware, 2014-15 has been a difficult year for us financially. Last Fall, we found
ourselves having to draw $223, 000 from our reserves in order to keep the church operating. At that time we made some difficult cuts to
our expenses. Since making these cuts, our operating reserve has recovered somewhat but we are still not in a healthy situation. We
ended the year paying back $131,000 to our reserves, but still owe $92,000 in order to pay back all we borrowed. It is a widely-held
opinion that churches should have at least 2-3 months of operating costs in reserve, which in our case would be $400,000 to $600,000.
So, there is some good news and bad news in this picture. The good news is we are moving in the right direction in terms of getting us
back to a state of financial health. The bad news is we still have a long way to go.
Please continue to be praying for our church as we move into the new fiscal year. Also, please prayerfully consider increasing your giving
so we can move forward in mission and ministry.
