One Great Hour of Sharing Offering
For seven decades now, nine denominations in the
U.S., have together been connecting people through
One Great Hour of Sharing. Sisters and brothers liv-
ing in poverty who would have been otherwise over-
looked, or outright forgotten, have been empowered
by our gifts to the offering. Families
across North America, are accompa-
nied for the long haul, thanks to
funds from One Great Hour of Shar-
ing.
Each time a gift is given, a connec-
tion is made. Every single offering builds another bridge and tears
down another wall. Each donation, no matter how large or small, re-
veals our unity, that in Christ Jesus we are one family. One Great Hour of Sharing
enables us to fulfill those needs, for they are our needs. For
the next few weeks we ask you to give generously to this
great connector of our shared faith, work, and witness
in the world.
~FBC Mission Ministry
We are the hungry, the thirsty, the sick,
the homeless, the hurting. We are one
with our sisters and brothers, and we will
answer Christ’s call until we all are fed.
Until all are fed.
Farewell ReceptionFarewell ReceptionFarewell ReceptionFarewell Reception Join us to celebrate Pastor Meredith's min-
istry with us and to wish her well in her
next call! A reception will be in the Judson
room immediately following the service
this Sunday. Cupcakes and punch will be

We Want to Hear From You!
The Spiritual Leadership Team wants to hear your thoughts about our congregation’s priorities and programs.
Why? After several years of focusing on big projects (i.e. decisions concerning the building, staff changes, and by-
laws revision), it is time to look at the sustained weekly and daily ministry and programs of our church In a world
that is constantly getting busier, we have begun to ask how we will engage in spiritual formation to prepare for a
life of faith. As good Baptists, we recognize that this is not a decision of only staff members or SLT leaders, but
the entire congregation. We want to hear from you as we discern our priorities together.
How? Over the last several months, the SLT has met, discussed, and partnered with the Fredrikson Center for
Faith and Church Vitality at Ottawa University in order to create a process for hearing your thoughts and opinions.
After meeting with the SLT and engaging our needs, the Fredrickson Center has designed questionnaires, and will
confidentially administer, collect, and prepare the feedback for dissemination.
Where...do I get one of these questionnaires? The Fredrikson Center (who has done this process with several oth-
er churches in other places) suggests that the best way to assure confidentiality and to avoid duplication is for every
congregation participant to request a questionnaire by a) emailing the church office to request a digital copy
or b) calling or giving your name to Jenny in the office to receive a paper copy and instructions via the
Fredrikson Center. You may do either, starting this week.
Who? YOU! We want to hear from you as we continue to together seek God’s vision for our congregation and
our community.

In an effort
to help low-income parents in our
community, Ballard Community Ser-
vices and The Salvation Army of
Douglas county are working togeth-
er to make sure families whose children qualify for free
or reduced lunches have the tools they need for academ-
ic success. With expenses continuing to be a challenge
for many Douglas county families, they are hoping to
provide over 800 children with school supplies, a new
pair of shoes and a backpack in preparation for the 2014
–2015 school year. Their goal is to complete the col-
lection of donated supplies by July 31. If you would
like to contribute, there is a collection box located at the
back of the sanctuary. You can find a list of preferred
items from USD 497: http://www.usd497.org/

the church office if you have any questions.
Beginning Fall 2014 at First Baptist
Church:
Sacred Music Academy
• Now enrolling 3rd through 8th graders for Fall Se-
mester: 13 weeks of musical instruction, vocal and
hand bell ensemble training, and fun!
• Wednesday evenings, beginning September 3 through
December 10th, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
• Under the direction of
Evelyn Falen
• $20 per semester
(scholarships available)
• Bring a friend! Community Outreach Event
We'd like to invite you to participate
in a special outreach event that has
been informally dubbed Operation
Popsicle. The Membership Committee
has arranged for FBC to have a small
table from which to hand out (free!)
popsicles at the Sidewalk Sale next
Thursday, July 17. There will be no
strings attached -- just giving away
cold popsicles to hot shoppers.
We hope you'll want to come help!
Below is a link to a doodle poll on which you may indicate
the hours you are able to come--we'll schedule shifts so that
no one is stuck out in the heat too long, and we'll provide
additional refreshments and water for FBC workers. There
will be jobs for people of all ages to do that day: Brief set up
and clean up, transporting popsicles from FBC to downtown
periodically, and of course giving away popsicles. If you have
a preference about what you'd like to do, just make a note on
the poll.
Our hope with this project is to give FBC a face in our com-
munity. We'd love for everyone to participate in this fun
event, including kids and youth. Even if you can't help out,
be sure to invite your shopping friends to stop by for a free
popsicle! If you have any questions, please feel free to con-
tact Christy Miller by email ([email protected]) or
phone/text (785-393-3183).
Don't forget to fill out the doodle poll--it's
quick! https://doodle.com/9ytg8ydtdiytgc9z
