P arent Opinion Survey The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey
offered by the Department of Education and
Training. Around 30% of parents are selected by ran-
dom sample from the school’s data base. Selected
parents receive confidential login details by mail. The
survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an un-
derstanding of parents’ perceptions of school climate,
student behaviour and student engagement. Schools
consider survey data in relation to school planning
and improvement strategies.
All responses to the survey are anonymous. This year
the Parent Opinion Survey will be conducted from
Monday 23rd July to Sunday 26th August.
Survey results will be reported back to the school at
the end of September, and reported to the school
community in the 2018 Annual Report.
C ancellation of School Banking School Council has unanimously endorsed the cancellation of School Banking at Hallam PS.
School Councillors discussed a range of concerns, and the unanimous decision of the Council was based on:
Information about banking practices disclosed during the Royal Commission
Admission of breaches of statutory laws
Correspondence in relation to the 2013 fraudu-lent manipulation of children’s accounts
Student banking programs as discreet marketing strategies to students
Potential conflict of interest arising from payment of commissions to schools
Reports of invitations for young adults to take out a credit card shortly after turning 18
Human resources management issues at the school level
Time management issues at the school level Deposits can continue to be made at your bank.
S AKG Program This semester our Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 stu-dents participate in the Garden program with
Ross, and the Kitchen program with Kathy. Approved volunteers are invited to assist with these programs. Please speak with your child’s class teacher.
