** IMPORTANT NOTICE **
Both Shime waza and Kansetsu waza are techniques that are specifically aimed at
causing your opponent serious discomfort and/or injury. When using them they are
designed to give you a victory in Judo by causing you opponent to submit.
The technique should only be performed under the supervision of Sensei or the most
senior grade who is supervising you.
Application should be made by exerting gentle pressure to affect the submission and
under no circumstances should they be “jerked” on.
When your opponent submits to the technique.
YOU MUST RELEASE the technique IMMEDIATELY without fail.
Failure to do so can result in serious injury to your partner.
At no time should any Judo technique be performed outside the dojo, or on untrained
persons. Unless as an act of self defence of extreme danger to you or your family.
