PRESS RELEASE Prize for Art Criticism Volume IX:

Judging Panel Announcement + January 2014 Deadline BREESE LITTLE are pleased to announce Brian Dillon, Editor of Cabinet, Penelope Curtis, Director of Tate Britain and Marjorie Allthorpe-Guyton, President of the International Association of Art Critics, as the judging panel for Volume IX. The deadline for Volume IX is Friday 10th January 2014. We would like to congratulate Rebecca Sykes for winning Volume VIII of the BREESE LITTLE Prize for Art Criticism with her review of Jeannie Driver's exhibition When Contents Become Form at Arbeit Gallery. Erica Payet is this volume's runner-up. Printers of fine art catalogues, brochures and support literature, ArtQuarters Press will sponsor Volumes IX XI of the Prize, culminating in a publication celebrating contributors to the first eleven volumes. BREESE LITTLE would like to take this opportunity to thank new and existing writers for contributing to the prize, and Christiane Monarchi, Editor of Photomonitor for judging the Volume VIII. The BREESE LITTLE Prize for Art Criticism was launched in September 2010. The aim of the prize is to support, encourage and provide a platform for young writers of art criticism. Deadlines are three times a year with a first prize of 600. The winning submissions are initially published on BREESE LITTLE's website. We look forward to announcing further details regarding the forthcoming publication in the near future. The prize offers an unparalleled opportunity to promote successful work in competitive forums with wide readership, providing vital exposure for talented, and often unrewarded, young critics. We favour criticism which privileges accessibility without losing analytical bite, which does not mystify with art jargon or compromise content, and which maintains intellectual rigour, strong visual analysis and demonstrates a thorough engagement with contemporary art in general. Submission guidelines are available on our website here. Click here to read the winning submissions for Volume VIII and comments from our judge Christiane Monarchi, Editor of Art Monthly.
