DESCRIPTION

God keeps His Word -- for good or ill. I would rather be a doorkeeper in His House than to be king of this world with all its evil.

16 Nevertheless the Lord raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.

2

He corrects us becausebecause He loves us.

When we sincerely humblehumble ourselves and call outcall out unto God for help,

He will deliver us from harm.

Page 3: Judges 2b

17 And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the Commandments of the Lord; but they did not so.

3

They always returned to their own waysown ways,

And to the ways of the sinful nationssinful nations.

Page 4: Judges 2b

"They went a whoring after other gods."

4

They were unfaithfulunfaithful to their True and Living God.

Just as a husband or a wife who is unfaithfulunfaithful to his or her mate has "gone a whoringgone a whoring",

So it isSo it is with one who goes after false false godsgods to worship.

Deuteronomy 4 23 Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the Covenant of the Lord your God, which He made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the Lord thy God hath forbidden thee. 24 For the Lord For the Lord thy God thy God isis a consuming fire, a consuming fire, eveneven a jealous God a jealous God.

5

God is always faithfulalways faithful unto us.

We must be as faithfulas faithful unto Him.

Page 6: Judges 2b

18 And when the Lord raised them up judges, then the Lord was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the Lord because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.

6

They would cry out to Godcry out to God in their trouble,

He would hearhear and raise up a judgejudge to deliver them.

They would followfollow that good judge as long as he livedhe lived.

Page 7: Judges 2b

19 And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doingsown doings, nor from their stubbornstubborn way.

7

Succeeding generations waxed worse than the former generations.

They ceased not from their own own doingsdoings,,

Nor from their Nor from their stubborn waystubborn way..

20 And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel; and He said, Because that this people hath transgressed My Covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto My Voice; 21 I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:

8

God would help them out from time to timetime to time, when a generation called on Him.

But they would never be freenever be free from these thornsthorns in their side.

Page 9: Judges 2b

22 That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the Way of the Lord to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not. 23 Therefore the Lord left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered He them into the hand of Joshua.

9

Because of their stubbornstubborn determination to leaveleave some Canaanites in the land,

Servants, TributeGod would also leaveleave them there and useuse

them to correctcorrect His people.
