Golpla being permeable enough to allow rainwater infiltration was proposed and a Technical Recommendation was prepared. Concerns over the strength of the subsoil were raised during excavations when a layer of clay was discovered at a depth of 400mm. Geosynthetics recalculated the build up this time taking into account the clay. A Tenax geogrid was added to strengthen the clay based type 3 layer. Using Golpla in combination with Geosynthetics Engineering services enabled Curtins Consulting Engineers to change the design of the car park and removed the need for drains and pipework.
