OVERVIEW
JS108‐Atlanta.com is the premiere destination on the Internet where “Music Is Played In The Key of Jazz.” Atlanta is rich in the various musical genres. Over the last few years, Atlanta’s musical reputation stems from the vast Hip‐Hop musicians who call Atlanta their home. But Hip‐Hop is not the only genre of music that represents Atlanta. Jazz music in Atlanta, because of Atlanta’s rich artistic and diversified culture, has always had a strong presence through the course of jazz music’s existence. Because of that presence and culture, Atlanta is home to many musically gifted jazz artists such as Earl Klugh, Joey Sommerville, and Mike Phillips to name a few. Many of these artists extraordinaire in their artistry are rarely represented on conventional (terrestrial radio). Yet they should be because these artists, as well as jazz artists as a whole, represent the heart and soul of the jazz culture in Atlanta. Enter JS108‐Atlanta.com’s “call to arms” and the reason for our existence and birth.
THE BEGINNING
JS108‐Atlanta.com began because the jazz artists of Atlanta were not represented on terrestrial radio. JS108‐Atlanta.com’s founder, Andrea M. Moore realized this need and decided to marry it to the wave in technology – the Internet. JS108‐Atlanta.com officially launched February, 2007. (JS108‐Atlanta.com was originally formed as “SmoothAtlanta.com.” As an insight move, the name was changed to JS108‐Atlanta.com to not be exclusive to just one genre of music.) The growth and notoriety of JS108‐Atlanta.com has increased at the speed of sound in so much within the first six months of its existence, JS108‐Atlanta.com’s listeners increased from debut day of around 758 to around 1000 or so an hour daily within the first month of broadcast. And most interestingly, the listening audience quickly spread from Atlanta and the Southeast to a national level and eventually to the worldwide level we currently enjoy.
THE FOCUS
JS108‐Atlanta.com’s primary focus is to broadcast music of the jazz artists, both local and national who reside in the Atlanta area.
JS108‐Atlanta.com’s additional broadcast focus’ include:
1. Providing a broadcast home for jazz music and artists’ nation and worldwide. Some of the artists which can be heard on JS108Atlanta .com include Boney James, Jeff Lorber, David Sanborn, Billy Cobham, Charlie Parker, Sarah Vaughn, Kirk Whalum, George Duke, Wes Montgomery, Thelonious Monk, Grover Washington, Jr, just to name a few. (JS108‐Atlanta.com broadcast all jazz artists of all jazz genres).
2. Perhaps the most important focus of JS108‐Atlanta.com is to keep jazz alive both in Atlanta and the world by continuing to tell the story of jazz through broadcast to how ever many people will listen. Jazz is a form of music that has always been kept alive through the stories musicians have told via the songs they write, through the years . Many of the story‐tellers were heard regularly on broadcast radio across the country. But as regular broadcast radio continues to go silent, the stories are in danger of being silenced. As an art form, we could not just stand back and allow that to take place.
THE FUTURE OF INTERNET BROADCASTING
JS108‐Atlanta.com continues to lead the Internet radio waves as an innovator of radio technology. Internet radio is not new, yet the ways which JS108‐Atlanta.com pushes the envelope, through the use of innovative technology (video broadcast, app, text code marketing, etc.) JS108‐Atlanta soars above other internet radio stations.
![Page 3: JS108-Atlanta.com Station Overview](https://reader031.vdocuments.mx/reader031/viewer/2022020400/568c52a01a28ab4916b76ce6/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
The goals of JS108‐Atlanta.com, both the station and the company include:
a. Expanding to major markets where jazz radio has all but disappeared from the airwaves. This includes cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Miami, Denver, Philadelphia, Boston, Cleveland, Saint Louis, Las Vegas, San Francisco and all points in between.
b. Increasing worldwide listening in such continents as Europe, South America, Canada, Russia, China, Australia and beyond.
JS108‐Atlanta.com currently broadcast in the countries represented in color. The darker color represents heavy listenership.
With a worldwide listening base firmly established, JS108‐Atlanta.com is positioned as one of the major Internet broadcasters in the world. The information contained in this report is on the listener behavior for 2011. The biggest concentrations of listeners are based in the United States, with the state of Georgia being the most listened‐to state. The remaining top listening countries include: United Kingdom, Canada, Russia, Brazil and Spain.
c. Blending comfortably audio and video (recently added to the broadcast) to give our listeners a “jazz journey” experience.
