Lions club pig roastBY BRIAN LEMKAYMacTier News
I have a list of activities for the Aug. 1 and Aug. 2 Civic Holiday festival weekend. On Aug. 1, there’s a main street community breakfast. Following that it’s the sec-ond annual great barbecue cook-off at Caboose Park. For the kids, in the afternoon, the Jam Sandwich group performs in front of the library. To end the day, there’s a dance on the arena floor, with music by Just for Kix. On Sunday, there’s a breakfast at the Lions hall, and then all events are at Lake Stewart Beach: a barbecue, then the regatta, corn roast and bonfire, the “northern lights” parade of boats and the fireworks display finale.
The MacTier Community Policing Committee held a successful car wash to raise money for youth hockey.
We have another boat safety course being arranged in the area. Sept. 15 is the deadline for all powerboat operators to obtain their pleasure craft operator cards. To sign up, call Bill Demkiw at 375-5219.
Don’t forget the MacTier Legion’s Father’s Day break-fast on Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children.
Tickets are on sale for the Gypsy Jive Band at Mac-Tier’s St. James the Great Catholic Church on July 18. It starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and you can purchase them from Pat Purdon or call 375-2478.
The MacTier Lions Club will be holding a fundraising pig roast, with all the trimmings, on Saturday, Sept. 5.
