1. Before the skin care class Speak to the hostess and ask her “Who is coming today who you think might be good doing what I do?” If appropriate, ask the hostess “How about you?”

2. During the class Talk about the MK business opportunity and give your personal story with the following suggested lead-in: People come to Mary Kay for different reasons: some for extra money, some to build confidence, some for friendship, other for recognition and still others for financial independence not available in most other careers. I decided to become a Mary Kay Consultant because: (keep it simple… keep it to the reason you joined, make it relatable to the people present.)

3. Upon completion of your “I story” ask for a referral: Mary Kay is looking for quality people to do what we do… teach skin care and makeup application. As you watch me today, if this is something you would ever, ever consider doing, please speak to me at the end of the class and I’ll give you some information to take home and read. On the other hand, if YOU are not interested but you have a friend you think would love my career, give me her name and number, and I’ll give her a call. If she decides to join our company, I’ll give you __________ for the referral.

4. At the individual closing of every class, select two people whom you see as possible team members and give them MK business information

to take home. You could say to each of them: I have some literature here describing my Mary Kay business, which I’d like you to read. If I give you this information, is there any reason why you couldn’t look it over in the next day or two and let me know what you think.
