Abstract Electricity can also be generated from artificially generated wind using blower.
A prototype model can be developed which generates constant power from artificially
generated constant flow of wind. Artificially generated air is flown through wind mill which is coupled to an alternator in such a way that constant electricity is generated. This
wind mill is called the anthropogenic wind mill (AWM). Anthropogenic is basically a
Greek word which means “artificial.” This project tries to give that mass flow rate at
inlet and outlet are approximately the same, but velocity of air at the outlet is four times
of velocity at the inlet.

Petroleum and The Nigerian Economy (1999–2007):
Between NEO-Colonialism and Domestic Collaborators
Ndaliman Alhaji Hassan, Auwalu Musa* Department of Political Science and Public Administration, Adamawa State University,

Abstract This paper analyzes the state of the petroleum sector and its impact on Nigerian economy from 1999–2007. The manner in which the sector was managed attracted a wide range of
comments on the rationale for the administration’s handling of the petroleum industry.
Between 1999 and 2007, President Obasanjo’s Government failed to reposition the Nigerian oil sector in such a way that it will benefit all Nigerians. Instead, the
administration opened the sector to foreign exploitative economic order. The policy
during the period is tantamount to development of underdevelopment in the oil sector in terms of management, administration and control. It is a situation in which while oil is
produced in Nigeria, Nigerians do not produce oil. The paper starts with an introduction, followed by a brief history of refineries and the development of petroleum industry in
Nigeria, and then the state of refineries during the period between 1999 and 2007. The
third aspect is the theoretical framework and conceptual issues, deregulation, withdrawal of subsidy and hike in the price of petroleum products. Finally, there is conclusion and
recommendations.

Power Quality Enhancement on Grid Integrated Wind
Energy System with the help of STATCOM
Shivachandra Hindinamani*, Santhosh G Mechanical Engineering Dept., N.M.A.M. Institute of Technology, Nitte, Karnataka, India
Abstract In this paper, the power quality enhancement on grid integrated wind energy system
(PQEGWES) using STATCOM is presented. This scheme aimed to improve the power
quality of the grid integrated wind energy system using BESS is used for charging the capacitor in STATCOM. The injection of wind power into the grid affects the power
quality of the system. Some of the power quality issues are voltage sag and harmonics. In
this proposed system, simulation model of 3-phase system without-compensation and with-compensation are modeled and simulated. In this system, a STATCOM is used and it
is capable to improve grid voltage and reduce the harmonic components.

3D Finite Element Analysis of Marine Risers

Abstract The dynamic response of marine risers under long crested random sea is obtained in time
domain using finite element solver ABAQUS/AQUA. The response analysis is based on a simulation technique which duly considers various nonlinear effects such as relative
velocity squared drag force, variable added mass due to variable submergence and nonlinearity due to large excursions. It also accounts for variable tension in the riser due
to variable submergence, variable buoyancy and wave forces. Results are presented
which illustrates the effects of nonlinearities, long-term drift oscillations and instantaneous motion of the vessel and current velocity on the bending stress in the
marine risers. The response time histories are obtained and presented in terms of bending stress envelopes and spectra showing contribution of various harmonics which is
significant because of a nonlinear system.
