    Experiment 2: Make Two Colors Look Like OneTry using two bright, contrasting grounds with lighter gures on top. Focus in the middle.

    EExperiment with other colors. What colors can you make appear similar. What is it about those colors that creates this effect?

    Experiment 1: Make One Color Look Like TwoTry out a gray gure on black and white grounds. Focus on one gray, then the other. Notice how one looks much brighter than the other? Try the same with colors of similar hue.

    FFor a greater challenge, try to nd a color that appears dif-ferent on grounds of different hues. What colors work well?

    Prep Your Materials Construction paper — try to assemble a wide variety of colors, including different shades and tints of the same hue Paint swatches, magazines, or other paper materials —get creative! Pencil Ruler or straight edge Cuing mat & cra knife OR scissors

    Cut your material into different size pieces to work with. Keep some larger pieces to use as your base grounds.
