Sometimes when I see my little girl twirling in the

that she wont be little for very long. Before I knowthis song real slow or playing it with a lot of pauses, definitely pick playing this song real slow.

If you find yourself forced to choose between playingleaves or playing dress-up in the mirror, I realize

    (My Little Girl)

it Ill be watching her shine in a performance;listening to her give the graduation speech; or seeingher look so beautiful as she gets ready for a specialdate. In those moments Im sure Ill wonder where thetime went. With amazement, Ill think to myself,

    "Thats my little girl!"

I think the first seven measures of this song are sevenof the finest measures Ive ever written. (Actually,I stole them from a Bach piece: Prelude in C)

One way to overcome double bass clef paranoia is to play the top clef with the left hand at first, thus convincing the brainthat it can play those notes. Then, without letting the brain know, sneak the right hand back into the picture.

    Pedal ad-lib, except where noted

This song flows kind of nice with a subtle accent on beat 1 and 3:

    Have a nice day

    =91-100

Sometimes during a show, Ill have three people come

piano. I then attempt to write a song using the threerush the tempo a bit.

If you would like this song to sound horrible, simplyup out of the audience and each pick a note on the

notes. "Air on the F String" is one of the few "threenote" songs Ive actually remembered. One time I wasmessing around with the song on a synth string settingand Michelle (thats my wife) liked it so much thatshe wanted me to put it on an album. Ive been hesitant

because at the beginning the bass line is sosimilar to Bachs famous "Air on the G string."But since my latest album "To the Summit" wasdedicated to Michelle, I just had to score thissong for strings and put it on for her. What wehave here is a version transcribed for piano.

    Dumb Song

    Dumb Song

    Side Notes: Helpful Hints:

    copyright 2001

The Bumblebee Tuna jingle can be

    =132-142 (not too fast)

This is a dumb song I made up in high school that people still

except for the fact that the rhythm is real fun and it has aa drummer. (Drummers generally get fired if they pause)

Play this with pop-like rhythmic precision, as if you wereyell for me to play in shows. I dont know why they like it,

pretty cool bass line. Other than that, it doesnt really domuch. So I usually have to get up and make an idiot outof myself trying to dance and play the tune at the same timeso at least it will have some slight entertainment value.

FAQ: Why the strange Bumblebee Tuna reference? One day

while playing this song in an assembly at good ol Highland HighSchool, some classmates startled me by singing along with aBumblebee Tuna commercial from the early 80s From then on, thesong became known as the Bumblebee Tuna Song. It has sort ofstuck over the years.

P.S. I couldnt include the Tuna jingle in the score because

    (Bumblebee Tuna)

I have no clue who to track down for the copyright permission.

P.S.S. Another song that works is Cat Stevens, "Another SaturdayNight".

sung anytime whilst playing this song

Slowly master the first 8 bars before doing anything else(this part repeats over and over).Maybe dont worry about the grace notes at first (theycan easily be added in later).

    Bedtime Story

    Side Notes: Helpful Hints:

    copyright 2001

With a slow lazy feel that doesnt rush

    =71-81

    = 1 beat ( also equals 1 beat)

Step 1: Count to 3 in each measure (count with a beat of course)

Here's an easy-to-use 3/8 time formula for ya:

Step 2: Plug in this formula:

    = 2 beats ( also equals 2 beats)

    = 3 beats

A slow lazy feel is the key to this song. In fact thissong is plain terrible if it is rushed.

(a message from the department of redundancy department)

To me this song takes you on a little journey. Muchlike a child is taken on a journey as they listen toa story at bedtime. The end of this song makes methink of tucking my own sleeping child in, turningoff the light and sneaking out the door.

If you ever go to Cheesecake Factory, get the Thaia set of drums.

I play this song as if I were a drummer and the pianochicken wraps. Theyre yummy!!

The first part is a little tedious from a countingstandpoint. So I suggest learning measures 59-81 first.

As in Prelude, using a strong underlying 2 beat accent ineach measure makes it a lot more fun to play. (Let the offbeat feel stronger than the down beat.)

I strongly suggest listening to how this song soundson the recording at mp3.com/jonschmidt for free.(please see ad on pg. 14)

This song is dedicated to the unbelievably great guys

Highland High School in Salt Lake City: Roger Dupaix, underlying 2 beat accent in each measure makes it a lotmore fun to play. (Let the off beat feel stronger than

As with "Cant Help Falling in Love," using a strongunder whom I had the privilege of being coached at

    (Highland Games)

Tom Kingsford, and especially Larry Gelwix who took ourrugby team to the high school national finals. "Lar" wasalways telling me that I ought to put a rugby game tomusic.

Warning: there are several passages that are quiteimpossible to play unless you use the fingering.
