Our Mission:

JOLT Nebraska is dedicated to provide recently incarcerated individuals opportunities to develop and use their working skills for successful and positive transition back into society.

What is Recidivism? Latin recidīvus  "recurring",

from re- "back" + cadō "I fall“

By definition, it is the return to prison by a discharged inmate within 3 years of release, from a new conviction, parole violation or technical violation.

Impact of Recidivism: $28,200/Year

• The average cost for the people of Nebraska to house an inmate in our correctional system for one year.

22 Months• The average time for a person to be incarcerated in

Nebraska is 22 months.

Nearly 40% • The portion of all persons that serve18 months or more and

are released, that will commit a new crime, or have their parole revoked within a three year period.

Why are they prone to repeat? 80% of the people released have

substance abuse issues, causing low self esteem

No one “believes” in them or shows that they care for them

Inability to learn from past mistakes

How We Accomplish Our Goals: JOLT Nebraska combines a Vocational

Training facility with a Recovery Center.  This unique combination allows us to provide two significant functions in our facility:

• Furnish jobs for people to work together as a team

• Offer self-help groups and counseling for individuals re-entry

Mentoring effects:

Dr. Tom Osborne supports JOLT Nebraska and our objectives to reduce recidivism, through rehabilitation, mentoring and skills training.

JOLT uses the power of Mentoring and team building to build belief and self confidence in the recovering.

JOLT at Work Our skills training includes training individuals for telemarketing, product fulfillment and

customer service - supporting real purchases from our JOLT Online Store. The JOLT Online Store provides a web based retail store with products available for

purchase. The profits from merchandise sales benefit JOLT Nebraska.

The JOLT Online Store offers popular merchandise, including Husker Gear, at reasonable prices for purchase. All profits benefit the organization.

JOLT Online Store a safe and secure online transaction environment that accepts most major credit cards and PayPal.

The store is instrumental in our jobs training for recent release prisoners learning new marketable skills. It is used for the transaction of a successful sales call by our patients that are learning the skills of telemarketing. This secure transaction environment is the perfect adjunct to the transaction piece of a successful sales call by a recovering parolee that is learning and applying (OJT) telemarketing and sales closing skills.

Donations, and online store purchases are web based and completely secure. Trained Telemarketers never ask for personal information over the phone.
