Where learning’s a ballPeterborough - Priti Shah - 07976 179899

Cambridge - Linzi Steven - 01954 719872

Get your kids moving with Little Kickers! A new way to introduce children to the beautiful game has kicked off in Peterborough and Cambridge.

Little Kickers provides pre-school children (18 months – 7 years) with a fun, positive introduction tofootball. Our activity programme was developed by FA qualified coaches working with early years learningspecialists and child health experts. Each class is run by 2 FA qualified coaches and enables the children to develop football skills at thesame time as developing essential early learning skills. Our classes are different from other footballclasses because they are specifically tailored to suit the development needs of such young children. Little Kickers is not about unearthing the next Gerrard or Rooney. Our goal is to provide a fun filled andpressure free footy-themed environment where children can begin to develop confidence, coordination, control and communication. With over 10,000 children participating in over 500 classesacross the UK we believe that Little Kickers is helping our children by providing a positive introductionto sport.

Classes are run across Peterborough and Cambridgeshire. Peterborough and Stamford – Priti Shah 07976 179899Cambridge – Linzi Steven 01954 719872For more information visit www.littlekickers.co.uk

Grandparents at Christmasby Susan Elliott-Wright

It’s easy to takegrandparents for granted oreven to find them anuisance, especially if theytend to bombard you withunwanted advice. But try toremember that they meanwell, and that they’reimportant people in yourchild’s life. Grandparentsnot only have lots of love togive, they also havewisdom, experience andtime; and because they’re

not constrained by the sameworries and responsibilitiesas parents, they can be agreat source of fun! This is especially truearound Christmastime, when mums and dads aretoo busy and stressed togive their children theattention they crave. Exciting pre-Christmaspreparations like making

Christmas cards anddecorations, dressing thetree, or making mince piesmight seem like hard workfor parents, butgrandparents will be happyto help the children withthese activities, patientlyguiding the children andfreeing you up to do otherthings. These days, extendedfamilies are often vast and

complicated, and mayinclude step-grandparentsand, increasingly,great-grandparents. Extended families may alsobe spread over a wide area,

so it may be difficult for yourkids to see all theirgrandparents on Christmasday or boxing day, but try tofactor in visits or invitationsat some point over theholiday period. If seeing the grandparentsover Christmas isimpossible, encourage thekids to send homemadecards and presents by post, and to phone or skype on

Christmas day. Get the kids to makepresents for theirgrandparents – there isnothing that will delight adoting granny or grandpamore than something made

by their grandchild’s ownfair hands. For example, simple chocolate trufflesmade from cake crumbsand melted chocolate androlled in cocoa powder; adesk tidy made from plasticbottles and cereal packets;a calendar with photographsof the children, or drawingsthey’ve done themselves. Ifyour parents aregrandparents-to-be thisChristmas, how about

presenting them with aframed photo of your latestscan? The relationship betweengrandparents andgrandchildren can be one of

the most rewarding for allconcerned, so at this time ofyear, let Granny andGranddad know just howmuch they’re appreciatedand make it a magicalChristmas for the wholefamily.

Parents all over our region have been enrollingtheir children into a unique martial artsprogramme that is designed especially forchildren that isn’t just about kicking and punching, but more about developing positive life skills suchas focus, self-discipline and confidence. At Adrenaline Martial Arts the curriculum is based around what they call “Black BeltAttitude” – This is the attitude of never giving up, giving it your best and striving with all theenergy in your mind and body! The chief instructor at Adrenaline Martial Arts, Sensei Lydia Nash said, “Our exciting, yetstructured and disciplined classes teach children how to focus their attention whichimproves their ability to learn. We have found that learning builds a real sense ofaccomplishment in children and with each new accomplishment a child's self-confidencewill grow. Once we begin to build a child's confidence we are then able to instil the valuesof respect, courtesy, honesty and integrity that are the foundations of martial arts datingback thousands of years.”Due to the high level of instruction at Adrenaline Martial Arts classes, places are in highdemand and many of their locations are now operating a waiting list. To register yourinterest for your child you should visit their website at www.blackbeltattitude.co.uk

It is really important to check that your instructor isfully qualified to teach your baby to swim - especiallyas there’s no regulation governing baby swimming.Anyone can set up a swim school & start teachingswimming, regardless of their lack of experience. Theamazing thing about Water Babies instructors is thatthey could have qualified twice over as pilots in thetime it takes them to complete their training.
