Time Work Task Explanation: FAIRY TALE FOCUS: Jack & the Beanstalk 1. 20 mins Jolly Phonics - Introduce NEW sound ‘a_e (as in take) Watch Mrs D’s video on Class Dojo. Practise the sound and action, then read the four words on the /a_e/ phonics sheet to an adult – remember the dots help to remind you how many sounds there are to stretch out before blending. Trace over the /a_e/ sound, then colour in the picture carefully. Take a photo/video and post on Class Stories. 2. 15 mins Vocabulary - our new vocabulary word is title’. Watch Mrs D’s video on Class Dojo and then trace the definition (meaning) of the word using your grey lead pencil. Listen to the story being read to you first, then go back to the start of the book and read the story yourself. Don’t forget to click on the symbols when you see them and complete the task.

Use one of the strategies you learnt watching Mrs D’s video, to work out how many syllables are in each word (eg. “Jack” has 1) – carefully colour in the number bubble that is correct under the picture. Then cut out all 24 cards, mix them up so they are shuffled well and spread out on the table with the words down (you lovely colouring face up). Play a game of memory with your adult. STEM - JACK’S GOLDEN EGG DELIVERY SERVICE - follow your plan and make your safe egg delivery container – remember that is needs to be able carry an egg to safety to the ground without the egg breaking, when dropped from a height. Watch Mrs D’s video for some tips. Take a video of you testing your egg delivery container and post on Class Stories. Ask your adult to help you fill in the evaluation box on the back of the planning booklet.

If you would like more to do, below are suggestions for you if you have done all the work this week. 1.
