Your Presenter Santina DiMauro Santina has been a NSW teacher for over 30 years and has taught in both state and independent schools. Santina has spent the last 10 years working as a literacy consultant to various schools around Australia, as well as working as an Intervention teacher using the L3 program and Jolly Phonics at a school in Sydney. Santina has been a Jolly Phonics trainer for 20 years and has trained teachers in the UK, Asia, Lebanon and Australia. She continues to train throughout Australia and Asia. A spelling and grammar program Grammar is the next stage after Jolly Phonics. It provides easy to use resources for the systematic teaching of spelling, grammar, punctuation and vocabulary for the next four years at school. At this workshop, we discuss the inclusion of explicitly teaching grammar and spelling in our national curriculum. We explore how Jolly Grammar can be programmed according to the framework found in our national curriculum. The workshop explores a structured spelling program to help children with spelling choices and spelling rules. It also explores a structured grammar program which is multisensory and easy to learn. The workshop is designed to provide teachers with hands-on strategies to teach spelling and grammar as well as highlighting a fun approach to teaching both areas.
