Homemade pumpkin pie with whipped cream—can’t you just taste it! Bring the kids, bring the fam-ily—start a new tradition
on Thanksgiving and let your Lodge and Chapter be the host! Hope to see you at dinner! Plan on com-ing, please R.S.V.P. at 240-417-6001 by November 20th.
NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2010
Moose Bucks is like free money to use in the Social Quarters. Each member of the Silver Spring Moose Family Center is entitled to $2 in moose bucks during November and December. Use your Moose bucks at one of our din-ners or use it to purchase a beverage on your next trip to the Lodge. The Moose Bucks are only good at the Silver Spring Moose Family Center and they are not transferable. Present your membership card to the Bar Manager on duty and they in turn will present you with your Moose Bucks. Moose Bucks can only be used once during Nov and Dec. They have no monetary value so no change will be given on a purchase. Ask for your Moose Bucks on your next visit!

MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNOR: Luther Leverette
Hello to All!
It’s hard to believe that we are entering the fall season and planning ahead for the holidays. If you haven’t yet had a chance to visit the new lodge, make a plan to see us during November or December. Each member has Moose Bucks to spend so visit soon!
We have planned a few events and hope that the membership will come for a visit and see our new Moose home. Things have been slow to start but I remain optimistic that things will pick-up as we have more things on the calendar for our members to enjoy. We will be hosting a Thanksgiving feast for all members and guests to enjoy. Dinner will be served from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. In addition, we are planning ahead for our Christmas and New Years celebration. Look for the details in the newsletter.
Wishing all members and your families a joyous holiday season!
SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR YOUR LODGE AND CHAPTER by attending a meeting. All meetings are held on Thurs-day’s. We want to hear from you on the things that interest you. Plan ahead to be at the next meeting!

Are you planning a visit to the Silver Spring Moose? If so, we ask that you call ahead of time to make sure the social quarters is open.
As you know, we are just getting back in the swing of things and the business is slow starting. We have a good crowd on Tuesdays and Wednesdays thanks to our active dart teams.
To help defray expenses, we allow our bar crew to close at their discretion in the event that there have been no customers. The Lodge will open at stated times but the closing time will vary due to member visits.
We don’t want to inconvenience you, so we ask that you call before you stop by. Call the Lodge at 301-421-9658.

Have you invited a new member to join the Moose Fraternity? The Time Is Now to ask your friends and family members to become a member of this great fraternity. Earlier this year, a membership program was announced that benefits all mem-bers...each year—just sponsor two new members and receive your next year’s dues for free. It takes TWO—pick up some applications, carry them in your wallet or purse and talk about the Moose to encourage new membership into our fraternity. MOOSEHEART CHILD CITY & SCHOOL is a community and school for children and teens in need, located on a 1,000-acre campus, 38 miles west of Chicago. Over its 97-year history, Moose-heart has been home to nearly 12,000 young
people, ranging in age from infancy through high school.
Mooseheart provides complete home care, education and train-ing for youth whose families are unable, for a wide variety of reasons, to care for them. Some have lost one or both parents; others are living in environ-ments that are simply not conducive to healthy growth and development.
Founded in 1913 by the Moose fraternal organization, Mooseheart is supported completely through private donations -- the great majority of which continue to come from the 1.1 mil-lion men and women of the Moose fraternal organization, in more than 1,700 Lodges and 1,600 Chapters located throughout the U.S. , Canada , Great Britain and Bermuda. Moose International headquarters is located on the Mooseheart campus.
Children and teens live in one of approximately 30 residences, each designed like a spacious single-family residence. Each is home for six to twelve children. The heart of the program is our trained Family Teachers -- in-home caregivers who provide a consistent, systematic method of care, with emphasis on social-skills development; skills essential for success in later life.
It is Mooseheart's policy to admit qualified children who have a need. The Admissions Com-mittee considers all applications of children in need.

Get Your DARTS ready! Come out for our charity luck to support the Maryland House at the Mooseheart campus. Last year we had the opportunity to visit the Mooseheart campus and have lunch at the Maryland house. Many have been a Moose member for years and have supported the children activities but up until last year, some had only seen pictures on the web or in the Moose maga-zine. Arriving at the campus on graduation day it was
heart-warming to see over 5,000 adults there to support our children at Mooseheart. Seeing first hand how our donations support this great work and speaking to the children—was something that we’ll never forget What a beautiful place for the kids to grow up and thrive. The Maryland house is located on the Mooseheart campus and the MD-DEL-DC Moose Asso-ciation is responsible for house maintenance and repairs. Over the years we have provided new carpet, new appliances, computers, family television, just to name a few. All funded by our members. This past year a new food program was introduced where each house pur-chases and prepares all meals at home. Providing skills to the children on meal preparation, budgeting for meals, not to mention the “family-time” they enjoy as they all eat their meals together—at home! So please—help support the Maryland House by attending the luck of the draw.
Open to all DART SHOOTERS and you don’t have to be a PRO to shoot! DETAILS: The Luck will cost $20 with $10 of that going directly to the Maryland House.
Top 4 teams win prize money. $25 cash prize to the 1st HAT TRICK AND $50 to the 1st TON 80! Raffles, food spe-cials, drink specials, donation jar….all for our boys at the Mary-land house!
HELP US…...HELP THEM! Lodge will open at 12:30—with the luck starting at 3:00PM. Show your support for the Mary-land House and play in the luck!
