FROM THE MANAGER Mark Grisham • General Manager
Summer has been so well received that we have decided to keep it going. Typically the pool seasonis closed after Labor Day but we have decided that we will not shut down until Mother Nature tellsus to. When school starts we will have selective times that the pool and Tiki Bar will be staffed, but the schedule will be very easy to keep up with and is listed in Peggy’s article.
July 4th celebration was a huge success by any measure. The pool activities, BBQ buffet, andfireworks show was spectacular and I would like to give a special thanks to TNT Fireworks for allthey did to make our Sunday event happen. We had 310 people sign up for the BBQ buffet and had 400 people actually comein and eat, which is a great segway into me reminding everyone how important it is to make reservations for all events andmeals. Recently we had a night where at 5:30 we had 17 people in our reservation book and by 8:30 we had served over 70people. I know that our F&B staff can do wonders, but I would bet that night we didn’t look our best or give you the levelof service and quality of food that we should deliver. Unlike a restaurant downtown that anticipates business based on whatthey did last year on this day pulling from over 100,000 people, we only have 560 members and rely heavily on you lettingus know when you will be here and what you would like to have before you get here.
As summer comes to an end this doesn’t mean we are slowing down. Our pre-fall events will include movie nights, Steakat the Lake grill outs, SEC Football on our big screen, and much more so please let me know what we can do to make yourclub more enjoyable for you and your family.
As always if there is anything I can do for you please don’t hesitate to call.
It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over and school is almost back in session. It seems
like summer just started! With the arrival of September we start thinking about overseeding
our fescue and preparing our bermudagrass for the winter. We always overseed the 3rd week
of September and sometime in September we usually put down a good fall fertilizer with a
large amount of potassium to help the plant prepare itself for winter. This is also the time
to start thinking about fall pre-emerge for winter annuals if you are growing warm season
grasses. Here at the club we have to start thinking about spring dead spot control as well.
555 So although you would think things would start to slow down a little this time of year,
there are many things we will be doing to keep the course in great condition for next season.
As always please obey the cart rules and fix your ball marks. Hope to see you on the course
soon.
