Step-by-step guide: creating a blackboard using Johnstone’s Speciality Matt Black

Step 1ensure, as far as possible, that initial stain is clean, dry and free from dust.
Step 2Stir well before use and apply Johnstone’s Speciality Stain Block Paint by brush or roller, ensure an even coat is applied, covering the stain and a surrounding area of approximately 20cm to ensure maximum containment.
Step 3apply Johnstone’s Matt, Silk or Soft Sheen emulsion to provide a decorative finish.
Step 1ensure surface is clean, dry and free from loose and flaking material. Stir well before use and apply Johnstone’s Speciality Matt Black by brush or roller, ensure a solid, even coat is applied. apply a second coat if required.
Step 2leave surface as a traditional blackboard finish.

Step-by-step guide: Preparing a wooden surface using Johnstone’s Speciality traditional Wood Primer
Step 2apply Johnstone’s Speciality traditional Wood Primer liberally and evenly by brush, paying particular attention to the end grain.
Step 3allow primer to dry and then apply relevant undercoat, ensuring even coverage, then cover with Johnstone’s liquid gloss.
Step 1Prepare surface by sanding down with a fine waterproof abrasive paper, follow the flow of the grain to ensure no damage to the wood.

Step 1turn radiator off prior to painting and allow to cool. clean and sand all surfaces. all loose and flaking material should be removed.
Step 3after painting leave for at least 30 minutes and turn on radiator for 2 hours at maximum setting to fully harden the enamel. if a second coat is required, apply once the first coat has hardened and the radiator is completely cool.
