About Kat

Kat’s coaching career began at Lindenwood University – Belleville in Belleville, Illinois in 2015, for 4 years. Hannah led her squad from a 15th National ranking to 2nd overall in Division I of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). In her first season, she coached the Lindenwood Lynx to a Playoff Championship title. Following the achievement in the 2015-16 season, she was awarded ACHA DI Coach of the Year by USA Hockey and also received an invitation to coach at the USA Hockey Girl’s Multi-District Player Development Camp in Colorado Springs, CO. Throughout Hannah’s coaching career at Lindenwood, she coached 3 players who were chosen to compete on team USA at the World University Games, 2 players who represented their home country of Australia at the IIHF World Championship, and 7 ACHA DI All-Americans. In both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons, Hannah was awarded Coach of the Year, and Team of the Year during the 2018-19 stanza on behalf of Lindenwood University - Belleville. In her final year coaching the Lynx, Kat competed in the National Championship game at the ACHA National Tournament in 2019, where the Lynx squad earned 2nd place. Wrapping up her time at Lindenwood-Belleville, her total win-loss record stands at 86-33-9.

From 2003-2008, Hannah was a college hockey player herself. She started the Lindenwood Lions’ ACHA DI inaugural season in 2003 and helped build the hockey program to what it is today: an NCAA DI team. Kat pioneered both women’s hockey teams at both Lindenwood campuses; first the Lions as a player and then the Lynx as a coach. Throughout her playing career, Hannah won the honors of All-American 4 times and the Zoë Harris award 2 times in 2006 and 2008. She was also a two-time National Champion in 2006 and 2008, and she currently holds the ACHA and Lindenwood University records for most points of all time at 407, and most points recorded in a season at 87. She recorded a supporting plus-minus of +286. It was soon after her playing career that Hannah pursued her coaching career and became a certified Level 4 Coach with USA Hockey, while actively pursuing her Level 5.

About Jim

Jim Hopgood enters his second season as Assistant coach for Johnson & Wales University. A long time coach of 20 seasons, predominately in women's hockey, he brings high energy, enthusiasm, and a hard work ethic to everything he does.

Hopgood helped assist the Johnson & Wales Women's hockey team to the program's first home playoff game and looks to help new head coach Kat Hannah improve the team this season.

A Massachusettes native, Hopgood, played for his High Scool Oliver Ames in Easton, MA, and followed that up with a year in juniors playing for the BayState Breakers. During his time playing juniors, he developed his love for coaching.
