Waltana...
Patience and perseverance have a magical effect where difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.

BL ACKTAIL HEIGHTS L AKESIDE, MONTANA 59922Welcome to Waltana, a 5,197 square foot mountaintop retreat overlooking Flathead Lake. Spanning over 100 acres on Blacktail Mountain, this log home property offers some of the Flathead Valley’s finest views. Saturating the senses with breathtaking panoramas of Flathead Lake and the mountains of Glacier National Park, this western paradise is a story of human perseverance in perfect conjunction with nature. The site demanded no less than a feat of structural engineering and the result...timeless tranquility and a rugged elegance not found easily elsewhere. Even though the home was built over a decade ago, it has only been used a grand total of 10 months-an average of 3 weeks a year. Hence...Waltana is brand new. So come to Waltana, amid the clean, crisp Montana air and natural splendor where your dreams become reality and a relationship with nature an everyday experience.
At Waltana, fishing, skiing, horseback riding, hiking and boating are only moments away and Montana’s big blue skies give a powerful performance. The old timers call the Flathead Valley “God’s Country” and Waltana accepts the challenge. We think you will agree, a property such as this comes once in a lifetime and must be experienced! Please join us for a tour of Waltana.

After finding the ideal place for a log retreat, a road had to be developed to the site.
Power was brought in from a 1/4 mile away.
A well had to be dug and after drilling 3000 feet, water was found.
The home was built to take advantage of the mountain top and lake views.
Laid out on a diagonal, two massive squares were joined together by a hip roof system.

Carefully chosen, The logs for Waltana were hand hewn by Garland Homes with wood from standing dead Engelmann spruce. Precut and precision milled, the logs were loaded on five semi-trailers and delivered to the site. There they were assembled for the first time with interlocking saddlelock corners.

Waltana // THE KITCHEN
The kitchen is perfect for preparation and entertaining. The juxtaposition of state-of-the art appliances and materials contrasts beautifully with the aged look of leathery-colored mud washed drywall. The chisel marks on the oak floors offer a dramatic distress and complement the patina of the limestone countertops, slate backsplash, oak kitchen bar and cabinets built from salvaged snow fencing.
