Working Class HeroSONG ANALYSIS

As soon as your born they make you feel small, By giving you no time instead of it all, Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all, A working class hero is something to be, A working class hero is something to be.

John starts the first stanza by describing the situation of a person of the middle class starting at their date of birth. The point in this stanza is not what the person made of them self, but of the roots of their family. So if this person was born of the middle class, the upper class will always look at the person as a poor peasant.

Working Class HeroSONG ANALYSIS

They hurt you at home and they hit you at school, They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool, Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules, A working class hero is something to be, A working class hero is something to be.

Once the person of the middle class begins to go to the middle class school, the rich kids of the upper class make fun of the person of the middle class. The people of the upper class hate the person of the middle class if the person is smart and brilliant. This stanza also describes how the system works. The people of the upper class make the people of the middle class fell down so they can not go up to the upper class.

Working Class Hero

SONG ANALYSIS

When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years, Then they expect you to pick a career, When you can't really function you're so full of fear, A working class hero is something to be, A working class hero is something to be.

After finishing school and being tormented, the person of the middle class is full of scare of what the future holds. The person of the middle class is born to be known as a middle class person giving the person no choice to pick a career. So the person of the middle class take what they receive from others of the upper class.

SONG ANALYSIS

Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV,

And you think you're so clever and classless and free, But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see, A working class hero is something to be, A working class hero is something to be.

The system uses the oppression to control the people of the middle and lower class by keeping them busy with TV, sex, and religion that way those people of the middle and lower class think about how life is controllable. This keeps the people of the middle class away from any revolution against the people of the upper class.

Working Class HeroSONG ANALYSIS

There's room at the top they are telling you still, But first you must learn how to smile as you kill, If you want to be like the folks on the hill, A working class hero is something to be. A working class hero is something to be. If you want to be a hero well just follow me, If you want to be a hero well just follow me.

On the surface, the upper class shows that a middle class worker can be rich, but the truth is that the people of the upper class will always put you down. “The folks on the hill” describe the folks as the upper class people. Like a king and his followers in the castle, and the peasants are always outside of the castle. At the end John advocates to make a revolution either by singing or by making the middle class people work hard to get to the upper class.
