Information He has written and designed books, book jackets &
covers, brochures, advertisements, periodicals, record jackets, corporate logos (although he hated doing it), posters and, of course, poems. Oddly enough he didn’t become funny until he was 55 years old. John Grandits is a poet, typographer, art director, designer, & writer. He’s written cartoons, articles, humor pieces, fiction and nonfiction for children and adults. Occasionally he’s been published. In his previous life he was associated with a number of juvenile.

Career • John Grandits started his career in children's book
publishing as a book designer and an art director, and he has also worked as an art director at the highly praised Cricket magazine. However, he is best known to middle-grade and teen readers as the author of several verse novels featuring concrete poetry. For example, a poem about a snake might be typeset to twist and turn in a ropelike line across the page, visually mimicking the shape of a snake
