He attended UCLA and graduated from Cal Western Reserve Dental School. He was a OKU recipient at graduation. Later he received his Master of Science in orthodontics at UMKC. Dr. Keane served as a Captain in the U.S. Army immediately after his orthodontic training. He is survived by his wife Leanne; his daughter, Laurie, his sons, Robert and Ryan; parents John and Helen Keane; brother Bill Keane; sisters, Su- zanne Pratt and Gail Wolfe; grandson, Daniel Keane. Southern Association of Orthodontists, the Amer- cian Association of Orthodontists, the Northern District Dental Society, the Georgia Dental Asso- ciation, and the American Dental Association. He also cherished the camaraderie and love shared with his friends in the Robert Gaylord study club. He served as a deacon of Peachtree Presbyte- rian Church and became a member of the Capital City Club. Family and golf were first priorities for Bob, and often they were enjoyed simultaneously. He was ultimately proud of his sons Rob and Pete, and worked fervently at the relationships that he had with these two terrific young men. In their youths, he had coached them in basketball and soccer; and he coached them in life. Bob cherished the time he spent with them; he was a great coach. Bob Northway was very taken with the world around him. He was a superb gardener; his back- yard was teeming with exotic species of plants indigenous to the southeastern states. He was me- ticulous about his diet, generally avoiding red meats; he loved fresh fruits and vegetables. He had a deep concern for the environment and practiced conservation religiously. Keane, Jr., of Newbury Park, Calif., died Jan. 8, 1993, of a cerebral aneurysm. He was 49 years old. He has been practicing in Newbury Park for 20 years. Thomas A. Gardner March 23, 1895-Sept. 23, 1992 Thomas A. Gardncr was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, where he attended public schools. He re- ceived BA and DDS degrees at the University of Iowa and was elcctcd to membership in the hon- orary dental fraternity, O.K.U., Xi Psi Phi profes- sional, and the Acacia social fraternities. During WWI he was a second lieutenant and flier in the U.S. Air Corps. In 1929, he was appointed Director of the Bureau of Dental Hygiene, University of Iowa, which he held for 3 years. He helped to establish the Iowa Plan for Dental Health Education and conceived the first known handbook on that sub- ject, a nationally recognized publication, for the classroom teacher. In 1930, he married Clarice S. Donly of Eagle Grove, Iowa. Their marriage lasted 57 years until Clarice's death in 1988. In Ottumwa he was a member of Masonic Lodge #16. In Omaha he was an elder in the First Christian Church; past-presi- dent of the Omaha Dental Society, the Nebraska Society for the Practice of Dentistry for Children, and the Omaha Camera .Club; charter member of the Omaha Optimist Club and instructor at the College of Dentistry, Creighton University. In 1945, the family moved to Denver, where Tom reestablished his orthodontic practice. He was a 50 year member of Consistory #1; life-member both of the Denver and the Colorado Dental Soci- eties; a member of the Rocky Mountain Orthodon- tists Society, the Americaia..Association of Orth- odontists and the American Dental Association.
