Flagg Ranch Campfre Circle

The John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway was established in 1972, to commemorate the many signifcant contributions to conservation made by Rockefeller. The Memorial Parkway provides a symbolic and physical connection between the world's frst national park, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton. The John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway ofers a myriad of recreational opportunities on 24,000 acres of parkland. Refer to the map on the reverse side for locations of the following activities.

Hiking Flagg Ranch • Polecat Creek Loop Trail, 2.5 miles RT*, 2 hours, EASY West side of level loop follows ridge above a marsh habitat. Look for waterfowl and other wildlife. • Flagg Canyon, 4 miles RT, 3 hours, EASY Access from east side of Polecat Creek Loop Trail with spectacular views of the Snake River.

Grassy Lake Road • Glade Creek Trail, 7 miles RT to Grand Teton boundary, 4 hours, MODERATE. Explore the northern Teton Range via this trail. Provides excellent backpacking opportunities. A backcountry permit is required for overnight trips, available at Colter Bay Visitor Center.

Yellowstone National Park Reach hiking opportunities in southwestern Yellowstone National Park, known as Cascade Corner, from the Grassy Lake Road. Trailheads are located a short distance west of the Parkway boundary. Hikes include: • Cascade Creek Trail, 3.6 miles RT, 2.5 hours, MODERATE Hike past cascades on Cascade Creek to 150' Terraced Falls. • Beula Lake Trail, 4.8 miles RT, 3 hours, MODERATE Leads to a small forest lake that is a popular fshing spot. • Union Falls Trail, 14.0 miles RT, 8 hours, STRENUOUS Visit one of Yellowstone's tallest (265 ') and most spectacular waterfalls. Trail requires fording several creeks.

Camping Headwaters Campground & RV sites @ Flagg Ranch Featuring 175 sites, some with RV hook-ups. Open: June - September. Fees charged, 800-443-2311.

Grassy Lake Road Twenty primitive campsites along a gravel road with picnic tables, pit toilets, trash cans and food storage boxes. No water. Beginning June 1, 2014, campsites require a $2 permit, available at the Colter Bay permits ofce or the Craig Thomas Discovery & Visitor Center in Moose. Some sites are suitable

for small RVs. Camping stays are limited to 14 consecutive days and 30 days in a calendar year.

Shefeld Creek Campground Bridger-Teton National Forest, 8 primitive campsites providing picnic tables, pit toilets, trash cans, food storage boxes, but no water. Fee charged, frst come frst served. Use caution driving in as the entrance road involves a creek crossing. In high water season (until July) the crossing will pose a problem. Not recommended for large RVs.

Snake River The Snake River runs through the Parkway. Two sections of the river can be foated. A Grand Teton boat permit is required and available at Colter Bay, Jenny Lake, and the Craig Thomas Discovery visitor centers.

Southgate to Flagg Ranch: Advanced Southgate Launch is 1/2-mile south of the South Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. The steep and narrow river provides challenging whitewater for rafters and kayakers. In spring, increased fow creates standing waves, haystacks, laterals, and large holes capable of fipping rafts. Scout this stretch via the Flagg Canyon Trail on the west bank of the river. At more than 4000 cfs the rapids are Class III (not recommended for canoes). Below 4000 cfs, only canoeists with advanced whitewater skills should attempt this section.

Flagg Ranch to Lizard Creek Campground: Intermediate This section involves a mix of foating the Snake River (6 miles) and paddling on Jackson Lake (4 miles). Braided river channels make route-fnding a challenge. Afternoon thunderstorms and potentially strong southwest winds produce waves that may swamp rafts and canoes. Strenuous rowing or paddling may be required. Motors may be used on Jackson Lake.

Fishing The Snake River ofers fshing throughout its course. One popular fshing spot is under the road bridge just south of Flagg Ranch. A Wyoming fshing license is required and available at Headwaters Lodge and Colter Bay Marina in addition to other fshing shops

Concession Activities

Headwaters Lodge @ Flagg Ranch A full service lodge featuring accommodations in modern log cabin style units, a restaurant, lounge,gift shop, convenience store and gas station.

The Lodge ofers guided horseback riding and raft trips. For additional information call 800-443-2311.

Ranger Activities

Flagg Ranch Information Station The Flagg Ranch Information Station introduces visitors to the Parkway and Grand Teton National Park and sells maps, feld guides, post cards, and children's books. The station is open daily from early June to Labor Day.

Ranger Programs In summer, Park Rangers present interpretive programs. Check the park newspaper for program schedules and additional information about ranger activities.
