World Baseball Classic 2013

The major event in baseball occurs in March, in different countries all over

the world. The event is the World Baseball Classic,

sixteen countries fight for the championship and the

recognition of all baseball lovers. There have been

three events like this one, including on 2013; the last

one dated back to 2006 and 2009. Both tournaments

were won by Japan, but this year the Dominican

Republic, a team full of major league baseball stars,

won the 2013 World Baseball Classic.

Before reaching the final, the Dominican Republic first played

against Netherlands in San Francisco, and in the final the play

against Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico’s team defeated two-time

defending champions Japan, also in San Francisco. This

country never lost a game during the competition, and the

played good baseball. An excellent combination of pitching

and batting was observed. The road to the championship was

hard, but a team with discipline and dedication like the Dominican Republic, could

achieve this victory in this year World Baseball Classic, and the most valuable

player of the tournament was Robinson Cano the second baseman from the New

York Yankees. Congratulations to this country, they honored their people.

a great football player, linebacker Ray Lewis. He was born

His career is full of achievements and awards but also, it had an incident in 2000,

that he was involved in a fight that resulted in

an indictment a murder and aggravated

assault chargers. After that incident, he went

to rehab. His name was clean and the people

forgot the incident, when he started to win

awards like the defensive player of the year in

2000 & 2003 and many pro bowls selections.

He also he won two Super Bowls in 2000,

where he won the most valuable player of the game and most recently he won it in

The history of Mexicali’s Eagles (Águilas de Mexicali)

Today we are going to introduce you the history of a

baseball club of Mexicali, the Mexicali Eagles, known to

them as the “Aguilas de Mexicali”. This team was

founded in 1948 by Mario Hernandez Maytorena, Carlos

“Chale” Moreno, James W. Stone, Francisco Valdez and

Daniel Avila. The team started in many leagues like the

Sunset

League, Southwest International,

Arizona-Texas and Arizona Mexico.

They also played in the “Liga Norte de

Sonora” where in 1971 were crowned

champions. Finally, in 1976, the team

enter to the “Liga Mexicana Del

Pacifico”, their first final was in 1982,

but they lost in seven games. This

team has won three championships, the first one in 1986 under manager named

Benjamin “Cananea” Reyes by defeating the Tomateros de Culiacan, the second

one under Dave Machemer and the won against the Mayos de Navojoa and the

last one in 1999 under manager Francisco “Paquin”

Estrada where they defeated the Tomateros de Culiacan. Also, in 1986, the team

won the Caribbean Series in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Nowadays the team had had

successful campaigns, reaching the semi-finals two years ago and last season

they reach the final, but they lost it against the Yaquis de Ciudad Obregon. I hope

that next year they can finally win their fourth title.

In sport there are many athletes who are really good and made great

world, but not all athletes are able to get that. There are many of them that could

come to this, but they are very undisciplined. To be a recognized athlete you

FACE TO FACE

or several years people around the world has been looking for an answer to a

question that has arisen and the question is who is the best player in the world,

Messi or Cristiano?, To date, no one knows for sure due to the diversity of ideas

from people. For about six years, the football world has seen do great things,

extraordinary and unreal to two of the best players in the world and perhaps in history.

No doubt they're both number one and number two in the world, but although Lionel

Messi is officially the winner of the Golden Ball season (2011-2012) and last named the

best player in the world, many people do not seem to be agree, there are many

differences between them and it is almost impossible to compare them, because quite

simply they are completely different.

For example: Cristiano Ronaldo is a fantastic player, with great ambition at the time of

entering the field, loves to win each and every one of the parties that the dispute is a

player with plenty of power, speed and great quality, but one of its greatest weaknesses

and to affect his game is that he is very arrogant and loves to be the center of attention,

why weakness?, well because we must remember that the official name of Soccer is

Soccer Association, this means that is a team sport, is played as a team and not a one man

sport like boxing or tennis, for this reason it has led to some criticism he has received in

his career.

Lionel Messi, contrary to C.Ronaldo is a player praised by the vast majority of people and

sports reporters. He has a huge charisma and maintains a very good relationship with the

media, he´s a very agile player, intelligent and with a lot of incredible skills.

We must make it clear that both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are true magicians

with the ball and is very difficult to say who is the best player in the world. Both have

unique features that the other does not have. Some will say that Cristiano is the best

other than Messi and others will say perhaps that is Kaka, Xavi, Iniesta or another player,

that's a matter of taste, this leads me to conclude that it is simply impossible to answer

with certainty and encourages me to invite you, yes you, my reader to do the test and ask

yourself, who’s better?, Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo? Do you have the answer?

Victoria Azarenka vs Li Na: Australian Open final

– as it happened

Victoria Azarenka retained her Australian Open title and the world No1 ranking

after beating Li Na 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the final.

So after defending her title with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory over the sixth-seeded Li in

one of the most unusual finals, Azarenka dropped her racket and cried tears.

"It isn't easy, that's for sure, but I knew what I had to do," the 23-year-old

Belarusian said. "I had to stay calm. I had to stay positive. I just had to deal with the

things that came onto me.”

Li had been sitting in her chair during the break, while Azarenka jogged and swung

her racket around before leaving the court to rub some liniment into her legs to

keep warm.

The 30-year-old Chinese player had fall to the court after twisting her left ankle and

had it taped after falling in the fifth game of the second set. Immediately after the

fireworks ceased, and with smoke still in the air, she twisted the ankle again, fell

and hit the back of her head on the hard court.

Chivas Guadalajara vs Club America: Chivas Guadalajara endured an absolutely disastrous edition of the Super Clasico

on Sunday night, losing three players to injury and getting another sent off in a loss

to Club América.

Signs that Chivas would endure a tough evening surfaced very early on. Jorge

Enrique was forced out of the match with an injury in the

13th minute, and was replaced by Fernando Gonzalez, a

teenager who has appeared in just 39 minutes worth of

Liga MX action this season. They lost their captain nine

minutes later, as Hector Reynoso, who came into the

game with a nagging injury, was unable to continue and

came off for Victor Perales.

Shortly after the halftime break, América found their

opening goal, which turned out to be the winner. Raul

Jimenez was the scorer, getting his head onto the end of

a cross by Juan Carlos Medina after a short corner routine. Less than two minutes

later, Marco Fabian went down and had to exit the game, becoming the third

Chivas player to be substituted due to an injury.

Sunday night's edition of Mexico's Super Clasico won't be looked back upon too

fondly. Chivas Guadalajara had a terrible night,

picking up three injuries and a red card in a 2-0

loss to Club América.

How to get over a street fight The aim of this article is to help you solve a street fight by using simple actions to

help you survive, attack or escape basic combat situations. Remember that fighting

should be your last resort after all else has failed.

ALWAYS try to avoid a confrontation. The best way to win a fight is avoiding it.

If you can resolve the problem without struggling, do it. Don’t let your ego interfere

with your own security. Keep a bold attitude but calm enough to stay sharp.

Know your surroundings. Besides being able to easily spot potential improvised

weapons that you might use, you can also search for a fleeing route. Always use

all your senses to their full capacity. Don’t just look around, observe and use the

shadows and reflections to your favor.

Do not be over-confident. Doesn’t matter the situation you should always

proceed with caution taking in mind that you don’t know if your opponent have

more experience in fighting than you, if he is armed with weapons such as knives,

or accompanied by more people. Always be prepared to strike, lots of times the

best defense is a good offense.

Keep out of reach, breathe, and cool your mind. The more relaxed you are the

easiest is going to be to connect a hit and the less you will hurt yourself.

Read your opponent movement flow. If you keep chasing for an opportunity to

strike you will only get yourself hurt. Opportunities only present by themselves, wait

for them.

Know when and where to run.

If you are at a disadvantage or simply do not want to fight, you can run into

people, into a well-lit place, trying to stop your attacker approaches.

Block it with obstacles. If you knock over a trash can or whatever, you will

help prevent your enemy reach you.

Spreading between cars and other obstacles makes sure to have an outlet

to prevent your opponent trapping you.

If there are several opponents and you know that you can’t escape them,

you better not try it, because it'll only make yourself tired and you will have

less energy to defend yourself. It is better to face them off.

Watch your balance. Open your legs to the level of your shoulders

a fold your knees a little. Avoid hitting ground at all cost. If your

opponents surpass you in number NEVER wrestle in the floor.

Learning a martial art can be a good idea and also is very useful if

you are caught in a corner. Choose any martial art that shows you

street fight techniques. But keep in mind that you will never be

100% safe even if you have studied martial arts and gained a black

belt. In a street fight you could be seriously hurt and you might even

lose your life.

TOP 5: Most lethal martial arts

Written by: Andres Melendrez article

Mostly developed as a self-defense tool enforcing mental strength, martial arts are

mainly developed for self-defense, some of them for survival at all cost, making

them unusually deadly. Although most of them originated in Asia, they’re hugely

popular in the occidental culture as well, mainly martial arts funded by the military

and security corps. Here at (Name of the magazine) we have our top “5 most

lethal martial arts list”:

Kalaripayattu

If you thought that Hinduisms only meditated, worked in their good karma and body

through Yoga, think once more…

Kalaripayattu is the most antique registered martial art. The training begins since

the student is seven years old and requires a physical, spiritual and mental training

teached by a gurukkal (guide). This martial art characterizes by its big arsenal of

lethal weapons and unusual forms.

If you want to train as the Red Army troops did, Sambo is for you. Sambo is a

Russian grappling martial art and one of the deadliest in the world, in the eighties it

applied as a demonstration sport for the Olympic Games in Moscow, but it was

never recognized officially as a demonstration sport due to its brutal nature. In this

sport, instead of differentiating levels expertise by belts, is more common to use

titles ranging from Novichok (Novato) to Uchitel (Distinguished Grand Master).

Muay Thai

This is one of the toughest striking martial arts I've seen so far, its tradition and

history has made of this discipline famous in the West, and is one of the favorite

subjects for MMA athletes. It was made popular by Hollywood actors like Jean-

Claude Van Damme.

Krav Maga

Used by Israeli Special Forces, the army and in the past by the Mossad. It was

developed by Imi Lichtenfeld, and after the migration of Jews to Israel he began

training them in this art. After World War II, the Jews needed a combat art to

represent them as warriors to the world, here the result: a sophisticated urban

survival combat system.

Ninjitsu

At some point we all dreamed about of being ninjas. This martial art has records

dating back to the 1500s but espionage was practiced in Japan since the 500's or

even earlier, hence the origins of Ninjitsu, one of the more lethal and effective

martial arts in the world. The use of weapons as an extension of the human body is

one of the secrets of this discipline.

Martial Art of the Month: Pencak Silat The Pencak Silat describes the martial art from the Malay world, especially in

Indonesia and Malaysia. Pencak silat means "fight" or "fighting in self-defense."

There were many wars between various indigenous tribes and kingdoms of the

Malay islands, and expert silat fighters were highly respected. These masters often

attained high political and social positions.

It is assumed that the Pencak Silat has developed from observation and imitation

of the movements of various animals such as the monkey, the white eagle or tiger,

but its origin is difficult to track because of the loss of written records. It is widely

believed that the discipline was introduced by religious hermits that travelled to

India and lived in this region in ancient times. Therefore, the Pencak Silat adopted

a philosophical and almost mystical reputation, thanks to the influence of these

religious teachers.

The Pencak Silat developed rapidly during the twentieth century and became a

competitive sport in some countries. It is highly valued by the Malay community as

a cultural bastion, a martial art that is also a way of life, a sport, a tradition and a

means of moral and spiritual education.

Pencak Silat Training

The Pencak Silat is a complex system, pretty “wild”, has a wide range of offensive

and defensive moves, and is based on a variety of arm punches, kicks, grabs, and

throws, footwork, and weapons techniques. Silat techniques focus on fluency and

precision of movement, being the surprise factor a key element to ensure

effectiveness in the fight. Weapons such as the knife, the long and short stick and

sword, are used for training.

Pencak silat practitioners work in four main aspects of art: the mental and spiritual

aspect, the aspect of self-defense, cultural and artistic instruction, and athletic

aspect.

How to choose a martial art

There are many martial arts out there for people to learn nowadays. Most martial

arts are no longer under regional restriction, and due to the great efforts in

globalization the options someone has are almost limitless. So, how do I know

which martial art is better for me to learn and practice? Well, there are some points

to take in mind, which can reduce the possibilities:

Set up a budget. In some disciplines you will need special equipment. For

example, in Kendo you will need to invest at least $1000 for the practice armor, in

contrast to Karate in which you only need a white cotton uniform. Choose a martial

art that you enjoy, but also one you can afford.

Determine your objective. Health and good shape, Martial abilities, Being part of

a traditional culture of hundreds of years, or gaining trophies in competitions –

although I wouldn’t recommend this last objective for someone to start-, is up to

you.

Decide a style you are comfortable with. You can choose a tough style like

Muay Thai or Occidental Boxing styles, one semi-tough like Tae Kwon Do or

Hapkido or maybe a softest one like Aikido or Kung Fu variation. Maybe you may

like a grappling martial art like Jiu Jitsu or any Occidential submission type.

Take in mind your own physical limitations. If you are too old or not very

flexible, try to enter a martial art less hardcore. Maybe you may like some grappling

styles like Judo, Aikido or Jiu-Jitsu.

Consider the effectiveness of the martial art. If you choose a police or military

martial art like Krav Maga, ARMA or AES, you will notice that this one focus more

in the “martial” part of martial arts, leaving aside the “arts”. But not because of that

oriental martial arts should be underestimated, since they make the “arts” a way of

life.

UEFA Champions League

This season we’ll be enjoying a great time plus we’ll be sitting on our couches with

our friends for hours. UEFA Champions League 12/13 is the 58th edition of this

competition and it’s one of the oldest and greatest competitions in football; it will

have his final on May 25 2013 and it will be held on London in the magical

Wembley Stadium , right now they’re on quarter finals which

means only 8 teams are remaining and the current champion

Chelsea FC it’s completely out of the picture, here are the

remaining teams: FC Barcelona, FC Bayern Munich, Juventus,

Malaga CF, Borussia Dortmund, Galatasaray, Paris Saint-

Germain and Real Madrid CF. Until now the competition is

very closed and it’s very difficult to say who can be the winner,

with Barcelona and PSG with a controversial equalizer and

Bayern Munich defeating Juventus with a 2-0 and still left with

two great matches Real Madrid vs. Galatasaray and Malaga vs. Borussia

Dortmund it’s very difficult to even say who will play at the final match. For now we

can only say, whichever is the final match of the competition it would be one of the

greatest matches of these year. Written by: Armando Galindo Article
