• Justice:Mercy is a ministry of Bryanston Bible Church that promotes
missional justice as a Christ-centred response to the complex problems of
vulnerability and injustice in our society.
• The vision of the ministry, in line with this belief in compassionate justice, is
to “help the vulnerable” as a meaningful expression of love while
“preaching the Gospel”.
• The Justice:Mercy ministry acts as a catalytic hub for three core activities
necessary for achieving the ministry vision:
1) Engaging in external partnerships with Christ-centred NGO’s, which
live out compassionate justice, in which we primarily provide finance
and accountability.
2) Engaging in collaborative activity with members of our congregation
through internal projects and initiatives.
3) Discipling members of the congregation to increase their capacity in
recognising and acting on compassionate justice opportunities.
Help the vulnerable; preach the Gospel

God directs his Church to love the world holistically by charging us to share the Gospel of
Christ’s redemption on the cross while in the same breath entreating us to clothe the naked,
feed the hungry and to defend the weak . Scripture lays out these two concepts as being
complementary actions that work hand in hand towards the goal of people’s spiritual and
physical restoration.
+ Good deeds display the character of a loving God and are an invitation, to the people of
the world, to seek after him.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your Father in heaven. Matt 5:16
+ Good deeds, as an expression of love and should be physically acted out. It seems that
love, being similar in nature to faith, is all but intangible, even inert, when not evidenced in
action.
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
1 John 3:18
+ Good deeds demonstrate a thoughtful approach and make every effort, with care, to
address the root causes of the complex problems that face our world.
Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the
fatherless; plead the case of the widow. Isaiah 1:17
The scriptures lead us to a theology of compassionate justice which emphasises, in all, the
preaching of the Gospel of Christ Jesus, in love, but works through good deeds to evidence His
love to a dying world in tangible of ways.

We enable from the church an expression of “good deeds” that are characterised by effective
justice for vulnerable people which must also evidence a clear evangelical impact.
This is the practical basis on which we readily review all our charitable ministry opportunities
and is an understanding in which we are intentionally disciplining our congregation.
Helping the Vulnerable; Preaching the Gospel.
