Early School Years

During her school years she was insecure. Soon,writing stories became a passion for her. She liked making stories with humor, funny characters, and magic. Then in later school years she did biographies about great people. She admires the author Jessica Mitford because she said his book “Hons and Rebels” changed her life.

Later School Years

During her teen years her mother had a disease called Multiple Sclerosis. It was painful for her getting slowly but somewhat steadily weaker. She ended her school years with high honors. She knew exactly what she wanted to do with her life but she had no idea where to begin.

University School Years.

At her University years she had folders full of small stories yet she had no idea how to publish the stories. At the age of 18 she had no definite ideas for stories. She also did not have the courage to carry out the ideas. For this reason she took her parents advice and studied French and literature at Exeter University. She graduated the school with honors. She never stopped writing though and tried to sumbit some of her stories. Yet she felt to insecure.

Career.

Rowling went through a series of jobs. All of them she found boring. She says “Whatever job I had, I was writing like crazy.”, she admitted. She wrote tons of short stories, all ending up in her box of other short stories. Her self esteem denied. After many jobs she found a job as a office employer. She still found her work boring, at her lunchtime she was writing stories.

Idea Of Harry Potter.On her way to London her train stopped. It was a

problem with the train which delayed the ride for several hours. She was staring out the window when suddenly the idea of Harry Potter came to her very clearly. After that she took all of her free time into writing Harry Potter. Completely filling her boxes with ideas and stories. She felt very happy with the stories. Her mother died however suddenly at the age of 45. She felt a feeling of loss and regret. Her feeling of regret was because she never told her about her story of Harry Potter. Soon she lost her job and Harry Potter was her only motivation.

Turning Point.

In 1995 she finished her first book of Harry Potter. It was called “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” She sent copies of it to 2 agents to get published. Another good news was that she received a grant from the Scottish Arts College. This allowed her to continue writing.

Published.

Great news came to her. Agent Christopher Little wanted to see her book on full manuscript on a very exclusive basis. Rowling says this was the best new of her life. Her book was rejected 12 times before it was finally I published. It was published on 26 June 1997.

Success!

Publishers around the world started bidding for the Harry Potter book. A unheard amount of 105,000$ was paid for the Harry Potter book. Rowling said she was “Frosen in terror”. By the end of 1999 Harry Potter books took three of the top fur places in the bestsellers list.

Why she is a hero.

She is a hero because she taught people around the world never to give up on a dream.
