Anaheim, CA: After a two year hiatus from performing in
Orange County, Jimmy Buffett and The Coral Reefer Band
bring their Son of A Son of A Sailor 2019 Tour to The Honda
Center in Anaheim on Saturday, October 12th. A continuation
of his tour with the same name in 2018, Parrot Heads will
celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the release of Buffett’s 8th
studio album with classics such as Cheeseburger in Paradise,
Livingston Saturday Night, Migration, Fool Button, Cowboy in
The Jungle and Coast of Marseilles. The concert date, which
was appropriately announced on National Margarita Day also
included a concert announcement for a show in Las Vegas on
Saturday, October 19th at The MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Club tickets are available for both shows. You must be an
OCPHC Club Member in good standing to purchase club

Escape To Margaritaville Returns in 2020
After the opening run in 2017 at The La Jolla Playhouse and
performances in New Orleans, Houston, Chicago and on
Broadway in New York, Jimmy Buffett’s Escape to Margaritaville
will be coming back to Southern California in 2020.
The plot of this Tropical Musical revolved around part-time
bartender and singer Tully Mars who falls for career-minded
tourist Rachel. The show features music and lyrics by Jimmy
Buffett and is based on a book by Greg Garcia and Mike O'Malley.
Featuring over 20 Jimmy Buffett classic songs, this play is truly
an Escape to Paradise.
Escape to Margaritaville will be running at The Segerstrom Center
for the Arts in Costa Mesa, February 4th - 9th and at The Dolby
Theater in Los Angels February 18th - March 8th. Tickets can be
found on the venue websites. Look for an OCPHC outing to one of
the performances.

The 10 Stages of Becoming A Parrot Head 1. Who the hell is Jimmy Buffet? Oh that guy who did (choose one) a. Margaritaville b. Cheeseburger in Paradise c. Come Monday 2. Oh it's with two "t's”? Buys "Songs You Know by Heart" because you heard "that one song" at a party. You start hearing all about the wild concerts and openly declare to the world that you are a Parrot Head. Goes out and buys that Hawaiian shirt you wanted all your life, or at least since last week. 3. Look at me, I'm a Parrot Head! Goes to a Jimmy Buffett concert and is amazed by all things Parrot Head. You loved the show but can't remember any of it through the alcoholic haze. 4. One Particular Parrot Decide you should buy a few more albums so that the old timers will stop laughing at you when Jimmy plays "One Particular Harbour" and say "that's a great song, I've never heard it.” 5. Domino College You buy the box set so you don't have to buy all the old albums. Still get laughed at or ignored because you’ve never heard "Migration" and "Cowboy in The Jungle". The good news is you know "Fins" well enough to move your hands the right way at the concert. 6. Buffett is God Starts collecting the albums, buys a couple more Hawaiian shirts, maybe even a coconut bra. Have two concert tees, and a copy of A Pirate Looks At Fifty. Suddenly have a burning need to find out all that is Buffett. “Margaritaville has a lost verse?!?” Considers Buffett to be GOD, 'though you’ve never heard the song "God's Own Drunk". Actually believes Buffett is a beach bum. You join an official PHIP Club and learn how to Party With a Purpose. NOTE: Some people never get passed this stage… 7. Say it Ain't so Jimmy. You are reading everything there is on Buffett and are getting a little disillusioned. You are closing your ears and screaming "say it ain't so!" when people criticize your "hero". No one stays at this stage for very long. You either punt and return to Stage 6 or move to Stage 8. 8. Screw Buffett... Accuse Buffett of being a heretic, Accuse him of selling out. All the concerts sound the same. Screw Buffett! This is also a dead end stage for many fans. Complains about concerts and new albums being commercial and every other money grubbing venture Mr. Margaritaville is wrapped up in. Hate it when your non-parrot head friends label you a parrot head. “I prefer Trop Rock!” 9. My name is ...... and I listen to Buffett music. You come to the realization that Buffett is human, and deal with it, with the help of other Buffett fans or some internal strength. Understands the myth, and to some degree, the man who created it and finds compromise somewhere between stage 6 and stage 8. Can't buy anymore albums because you have them all, already. Enjoys the music for what it represents, which is why you bought it in the first place and ignore all the other bullshit as best as possible, without forsaking your own moral standards. 10. If you reach stage nine and still continuously listen to Buffett and enjoy the concerts and the lifestyle then you, my friend, are a Parrot Head.

Mac McAnally Sets Record
With 10th CMA Musician
Of The Year Honor
(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Instrumentalist, songwriter, producer and recording artist Mac McAnally has received
some amazing accolades over his career, but his latest is unprecedented. For him or anyone else.
McAnally received his 10th trophy as CMA Musician of the Year during the 52nd CMA Awards in Nashville in
November 2018, breaking his tie with the iconic Chet Atkins and setting the category’s all-time high-water
mark.
“Somehow the CMA has seen fit to honor me as Musician of the Year for the 10th time. Blessed beyond
words. And now I have to go practice!” McAnally said upon accepting the award.
McAnally received the honor a record eight consecutive years from 2008 to 2015. He wasn’t up for the award
in 2016 having spent the bulk of the year on tour in his longstanding gig as guitarist for Jimmy Buffett’s Coral
Reefer Band, rather than in the studio. Winning his ninth Musician trophy last year, he tied Atkins for most
wins in the category.
“I may have the same number as him, but I’m not in the same league with Chet Atkins,” McAnally told
the Jackson Clarion Ledger in his home state of Mississippi after last year’s win. “He was my dad’s hero,
and my dad was my hero. Chet Atkins is the reason my daddy put a guitar in my hands and got me lessons.”
Those lessons went on to benefit not just McAnally, but arguably all of music. His contributions have
delighted thousands in concert as noted previously, include iconic compositions (“Back Where I Come From,”
“Down The Road”) as well as multiple critically acclaimed albums. Those more visible accomplishments have
landed him in the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame, and Alabama
Music Hall of Fame.
Coral Reefer - Roger Guth Roger Guth has been playing drums in the Coral Reefer band backing songwriter Jimmy Buffett since 1989. Originally from the St. Louis area, Roger now resides with his family in Nashville TN. He has co written scores of popular Buffett releases, and his writing credits also include Vanessa Williams' "Moonlight Over Paris" and PM's Top 10 hit on Warner Bros., "Piece of Paradise". In early 1998, Roger released his first solo CD entitled "Scotch". Roger Guth and Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band continue to be the perennial summer concert experience, and their summer tours include major baseball stadiums around the US. In 2004 Roger recorded Jimmy's hit record "License To Chill," as well as his second solo CD "Cowboy Ballet." He can also be heard on CDs by fellow Buffett band mate Peter Mayer's "Music Box" and Mac McAnally's "Semi-True Stories."

The Beach Bum Opens March 29th The Beach Bum follows the outrageous misadventures of Moondog
(Matthew McConaughey), a rebellious burnout who only knows how to live life by
his own rules. Complete with an all-star cast including Snoop Dogg, Isla Fisher, Zac
Efron, Jimmy Buffett, Martin Lawrence, and Jonah Hill, The Beach Bum is the wildly
original and subversive new comedy from Harmony Korine (Spring Breakers).
I could tell you that Harmony Korine’s new acid trip of a stoner movie The Beach
Bum has Snoop Dogg, a gas mask bong, a coke-addicted parrot, and the biggest
joint you’ve ever seen alongside Jimmy Buffett in a hot tub, Jonah Hill eating soft
serve, a kitten that drinks PBR, and Matthew McConaughey playing a character who
calls himself “Moondog.” I could say all of these things, but trust me: It’s much,
much better for you to see them for yourself.
Buffett Sings National Anthem
at NFC Championship Jimmy Buffett is good friends with Saints Head Coach Sean
Payton. For the NFC Championship game between The L.A.
Rams and N.O. Saints, Jimmy had to sing for his sideline
tickets. Donning a Saints Cap, Buffett sang the National
Anthem acapella and upon completion, dropped the mic
and walked off the field.
His Saints dropped the game to the Rams 26 - 23.
