Associate Professor Jill Howieson Associate Professor, Law School The University of Western Australia Jill Howieson, PhD (Law), LLB (Hons), BA (Hons) (Psych), BA (English) is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Western Australia. Jill was the Associate Dean of the Law School from 20092012 and is currently the unit coordinator of Negotiation and Mediation, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). Jill is an inaugural board member of the National Mediator Standards Board and is a nationally accredited mediator. Jill is the coauthor of Negotiation: strategy style skills (LexisNexis, 2010) and practices, researchers and trains in mediation, negotiation and stakeholder facilitation. Jill has trained and consulted for a variety of entities, including the IM4DC, AusAID, AAPF, Yamatjii Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation, SCALES, Murdoch University’s Legal Clinic, DCP, Legal Aid and more. Jill is currently working on a Negotiation Program, including a Negotiation Preparation Framework for African governments. Before entering academia, Jill practised law in the Dispute Resolution team of one of Australia’s top tier international law firms, King & Wood Mallesons. She has published widely internationally and nationally in the areas of negotiation, dispute resolution, legal education and procedural justice.
