The Season of Advent: To help your household prepare your hearts and
wait for Christmas, please pick up a booklet of daily devotions at the
Connection Center desk. This year’s booklet is called “Advent; A
Calendar of Devotions 2019” by Teer Hardy.
Next Sunday, at both morning services, the choir and orchestra will present a holiday
cantata, We All Bow Down by Marty Nystrom. “This presentation of Jesus' birth features
powerful praise and worship songs that rejoice in the fact that all are invited to come and
bow down before Him.” Come, and worship with us!
Wednesday Evening Cook Needed: Kellie Smith in unable to continue preparing our
Wednesday evening Fellowship Dinners in the new year. Are you or someone you know
interested in this position? Please contact the church office (304-562-5903), or talk to
one of our staff members. We would like to have someone to coordinate and prepare
these weekly meals as soon as possible. Dinners resume on January 8th. Thank you!
Thanksgiving Day Dinner Report: We had a wonderful time Thursday, November 28,
having served over 80 meals to those who came. Special “thank you’s” to those who
came out to decorate and set up and to Don Gatewood for providing a 20 lb. smoked
turkey from L & R. We also would like to thank the UMW for allowing us to use
whatever we needed, the Stewards of Fellowship Sunday school class for their “L”
dollars donation, and a special thanks to the men in the kitchen who put our meal
together. Most of all, a big thank you to John Marra, the head of our dinner. We could
not have done our dinner without his expertise.
Come join us Christmas Day for baked steak & ham at 2:00 p.m. Thanks be to God!
“I will support the church with my presence and gifts.”

for missions. For each dollar donated, the candle remains lit one hour. The candle
donations support Living Hope High School, Bungoma, Kenya, which was begun by
Marilyn Uhl, a WV United Methodist. An $88 a month sponsorship gives an orphan an
opportunity in the name of Jesus Christ, raising and educating Christian leaders of tomorrow

days of Christmas. Mark your donation “candle”.
Annual Pecan Sale: The United Methodist Women are selling pecans again: extra large

limited supply), cinnamon glazed pecans (10 oz.; limited supply), and glazed pecans (8 oz.;
limited supply). Each bag is $10 and can be purchased between services or in the church
office during the week.

December 8, 2019
Little Free Library: Forrest Burdette now has a Little Free Library, located in the grassy
area just before the COM covered drive. This project was a collaboration between our
Children’s & Youth Ministries. A Little Free Library is a “take a book, return a book”
free book exchange for all ages. If you have a gently used book or two, for children, youth,
young adults, or adults, that you think would be a good addition to our little library, please
bring it to the church office.
Copies of the 2019 Charge Conference booklet are available at the Connection Center.
“Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 1:20b
