Thesis Statement
I am a mixture of German, Indian, and American cultures.
Culture
Supporting ElementsLanguage
I only speak English at my house. Sometimes I listen to my mom speak
Guajarati on the phone and I mimic what she says.
Sometimes I speak a little Spanish with my dad because I learn it at school.
Supporting ElementsGreetings
Usually I just say, “Hey what's up,” to people like my friends which is very American. If I greet an elderly person, I nicely say hello and hug or kiss them depending on how close they are to me. That is very Indian.
Because my family is Indian we all hug friends and family. Americans just shake hands and they’re done.
Supporting ElementsRecreation
I play a lot of sports like taekwondo, basket ball, soccer, etc. That’s American.
I also play electronics, like my D.S. In India, they don’t have that kind of stuff. That means it’s American.
Supporting ElementsFood
40% of food for dinner I eat is American. The other 60% of the food I eat is Asian. 35% of that is Indian. If my mom wasn’t Indian, I probably wouldn’t even eat Indian food.
For breakfast and lunch, I eat American food. For breakfast I just eat cereal. For lunch I eat things like pizza, sandwiches, and noodles which are American.
Supporting ElementsMoney
At my house, I don’t get allowance. I am expected to do chores without earning money.
Americans want new stuff. When a new game comes out they want one. For me, my parents don’t let me buy new games. Sometimes they will, but I have to pay for it. Our culture is to save money, not to spend it on toys or electronics. That’s Indian culture.
Supporting DetailsIndividualism
I think I’m more of a group person. I play a lot of sports and I’m a good team player. I prefer to work in a group for classwork if given the chance. I’m also a group person because I don’t like being the center of attention.
Supporting ElementsReligion
I am Lutheran. Every Sunday, I go to church and stay there for about 2 hours. Going to church is a big part in my life. If you multiplied the number of times I have been to church by two hours, it would be a really big number. Lutheranism is a German branch of Christianity.
Supporting DetailsHolidays and Celebrations
I celebrate Christian holidays like Christmas and Easter
I also celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving and other American holidays
When I celebrate my birthday, I invite friends that have become like my extended family. That is Indian culture.

Conclusion
My culture: is a mixture of Indian, German, and American. I think that my culture is mostly American because I was born here and it has influenced me. I think I’m the least German because I haven’t visited Germany as I have India.
The filter I see through is red (American), but also with little bits of yellow and orange (Indian and German)
