JAC has teamed up with the Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce, Golden Artist Colors, regional businesses and artists to create Bainbridge Arts Trail - Regatta Row 2018. This will be an outdoor exhibition of 20 Artist designed, Adirondack style End TablesorCanoe Paddle Chairs. Each piece will have canoe paddles incorporated in the design. They will be exhibited on Main Street (Intersection of Routes 7 & 206) in historic downtown Bainbridge throughout May and then auctioned on May 26 at the Regatta to benefit the JAC. The iconic Regatta draws close to 15,000 people for Memorial Day Weekend and is the longest flat-water canoe race in the world, culminating at the finish line in Bainbridge! Artists and designers must submit an application by the deadline of Thursday, Jan 25 to be selected to create a unique table or chair, used as a canvas to decorate, carve or paint. We are looking for artists to interpret the theme: Scenes of New York...in respect to the history, landscape, architecture, etc from our Southern Tier to the Big Apple, and of course the Canoe Regatta. We hope you will tell stories, translate emotions, and inspire creativity & original thinking through your art. This is an opportunity for artists to get involved and bring creativity to the streets & to the public. On Opening Day, Sat. April 28, from 2 to 4 PM. A Meet the ArtistReception will be held and Awards of Distinction will be given to artists for: Best in Show; Best Theme Representation and the Mayors Award. On Memorial Day Weekend a Peoples Choice Award will be announced before the auction. Bainbridge Art Trail – Regatta Row

2018 Rules and Requirements While this is a community art fundraiser, each artist will receive at least $50 in appreciation of their donation of time &

talent.

1. Application: Artists must submit the application including a sketch or storyboard of their proposed design for

review by the JAC jury. Sketches do not have to be extremely detailed, but opportunity is enhanced with detailed

submissions. 2. Deadlines:

a. Application Deadline: Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018 – Application must be postmarked or delivered

b. Table & Chair Delivery: Wed,April 18. Art to be finished, dry and delivered to Bainbridge.

3. Artist Selection - Jury: Jury will be members of the JAC and invited professionals. Selecting 15-20 artists, but

may vary. Selection is based on originality, artistic merit and ability to convey the theme.

4. People’s Choice Award: Public voting at www.jerichoarts.com and around town is open from April 28 to

May 25. One vote per person please. You are encouraged to use your social media to spread the word to friends and family to help you by voting online. Artist participation is optional in the online “People’s Choice Jury”.

Information on how to vote will be available on JAC website www.jerichoarts.com (Gallery) by April 28 (See Artist Choices # 2)

5. Theme: “ Scenes of New York” Interpret an aspect of life relating to anywhere from the Southern Tier to the Big

Apple: history, culture, nature, art, architecture and of course, the General Clinton Canoe Regatta

6. JAC Plaques: A plaque will be on each piece with the Title, Artist or Group name and Sponsor.

7. Function: Structure of table or chair may be modified, carved or decorated, but still safe and usable.

8. A "Family Style" Show: Artwork deemed offensive will be rejected at the discretion of the judges.

9. Sponsors: Designs should not focus on signage or the name of a sponsor, but can capture the essence of the

business through art. (See “Artist Choices # 3”).

10. Responsibility: All costs to paint or decorate the Table or Chair, including transportation to and from

downtown Bainbridge, are the responsibility of artists unless otherwise noted. (Paint will be provided) Application will imply agreement with this disclaimer. Tables & chairs, copyright and art upon them are the sole property of the JAC Gallery Committee. Each piece of artwork is the property of the JAC and may be used for promotion of the arts and auctioned or sold to help the promotion of the Arts in Bainbridge.

11. Auction: An online auction precedes the live auction to benefit the JAC and the Arts. The online auction starts

April 28 at www.jerichoarts.com. The live auction will be held on May 26 at the General Clinton Park Regatta Field.

12. Artist Timeline 2018:

a. Jan 25: Application and biography to be received or postmarked no later than Thur. Jan. 25, 2018.

b. Feb 4: Artist Selection is announced via e mail or phone. c. Mid Feb: Tables & Chairs available to selected artists for pickup based on the date application

was received. d. April 18: Artists complete and deliver table or chair to Bainbridge for top coating. e. April 25 : Table & Chair installation in Bainbridge & Media Conference (Regatta Row Committee

only). f. April 28: Regatta Row Art Fest opening “Meet the Artists” 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Artists are

expected to participate unless written notice to JAC is given in advance. Regional, multimedia press and the public will be invited.

g. April 28 to May 25: Public online auction bidding and voting opens for “People’s Choice Award”. Awarded at Live Auction, May 26. Please use social media to encourage voting and online bidding.

h. May 26: Chair Auction at General Clinton Regatta Field in the Chamber of Commerce Tent.
