3rd Decl. Basics• 3rd decl. nouns = most common noun type• Identify by the –is in the gen. sg.• Nom. SG = completely irregular, must be memorized– this is why it’s included in the dictionary entry
• Unlike decl. 1-2, 3rd decl. nouns can be masc., fem., or neut.
• There are TWO types/ending sets:1. Masculine & Feminine2. Neuter

1. Masculine & Feminine:(1a.) “Regular” (1b.) i-stems
2. Neuter(2a.) “Regular” (2b.) i-stems
*We’ll only be dealing with “regular” masc. & fem. 3rd decl. nouns today*
