View on Human Nature: Most Federalists shared Hamilton's view that people were basically selfish and out for themselves. He distrusted any system of government that gave too much power to “the mob” or the common people.

Views on Government- Federalists believed that “the best people-educated, wealthy, public spirited men” like themselves should run the country.

Views on Economy- He wanted to expand the economy and increase the nations wealth by using the power of the federal government to promote business, manufacturing and trade. He asked Congress to establish a national bank where they would track the money coming in and out and control taxes.

Views on GB and France- sided with England because Federalists wanted to maintain trade.

View on Human Nature- He believed informed citizens could make good decisions for themselves and their country. He believed in the hard working farmers like himself.

View on Government- believed that the best government was the one that governed the lease. A small government with limited powers, strong state governments.

Views on Economy- favored and economy based on agriculture, opposed any national bank. “Those who labor the earth are the chosen people of God, if ever he had a chosen people”- Jefferson

Views on GB and France- Supported France
