FUTURE DOCS

Ten-week High School Enrichment Program

Students are exposed to all of the health professions, medicine and graduate studies in biomedical sciences.

Program begins the first Thursday in January

Students meet once a week, for ten consecutive weeks, two hours per day

Program Requirements and Application Process

Open to 3rd and 4th year minority students interested in the “sciences”

Also open to “economically/educationally disadvantaged students”

Participating high schools must be from the greater Philadelphia area

Students must be in good academic standing

Application to the program includes the following: a) submitting the application with a personal statement on why he/she would like to be part of the Future Docs Program; b) a letter of recommendation from his/her school counselor stating whether or not the student applying is in “good” academic standing; and, c) the student and his/her parents or legal guardian must read and sign an official Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct that is included in the application packet.

Program Highlights

Basic Anatomy Course (taught by one of our Anatomy Professors who is an MD) – l hour class/lab

Students have hands-on experiences through our Anatomy lab in addition to our Clinical Skills

Center and Simulation Lab

Invited guest speakers and student panelists from all of the health professions and medicine expose students to a variety of careers in the sciences
