OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE OUR YOUTH!

LIONS QUEST CLASSROOM OBSERVER

Submitted by Lion Juneria Berges, Ed.D.

With pride and joy 2-E2 Lions District has become an active promoter of our children of to-

day and leaders of tomorrow by providing the Lions Quest Social and Emotional Curriculum

and teacher training to several school within our district’s geographical boundaries. At this

time there are opportunities to be trained to conduct Lions Quest Classroom observations.

The training is approximately 2-hours in length. Once trained one observes Lions Quest

classrooms with a veteran observer. The school districts where we are in desperate need of

help are Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD and Lake Worth ISD.

What is the time obligation? Your time obligation is strictly based on your availability! I

will distribute the calendar which is generated by LCIF Lions Quest Penny Willis and send the

proposed schedule to you as soon as I receive it. At that time, I send an e-mail asking when

YOU will be able to observe. I will simply need you to share your available date/s and time

slots which work with your schedule to Penny Willis in order to participate in the observa-

tions.

If you are interested, PLEASE e-mail me at [email protected] or phone/text 214-455-

8752. Your help and commitment will be appreciated GREATLY!!

This is an exciting time for us to widen our impact. Our association is made up of 46,000 autonomous clubs in over 200 countries. It is through our collective giving to our Lions Clubs International Foun-dation that we multiply our impact in our communities. Clubs are made up of LIONS: Loving Individu-als Offering Needed Services. By banding together our collective talents, both service and financial, we can upstart our new century.

How can we do this? Past campaigns were single focus campaigns for vision. Campaign 100 includes all our focus areas: vision, hunger, environment, diabetes and childhood cancer. Your dollars will go to all areas. Clubs collectively can pledge to become model clubs. What is a model club? A club needs to pledge a minimum of $750 per member over the campaign duration, which is 3 years.

Become a Model Club • Lead the way and inspire other clubs to do the same. • Raise funds through various strategies, including, but not limited to: • Asking individual members to make a gift or pledge. • Dedicating a fundraising event to the campaign. • Making a gift from the club treasury. • Asking members of the community to make a gift. • Conduct Model Club fundraising efforts and strive to raise a minimum per-member average of

$750 in gifts and pledges by June 30, 2022. The full amount of documented individual pledges counts toward achievement of a club’s per-member average, regardless of the payment period.

• Promote Campaign 100 causes and dedicate ourselves to LCIF as part of our service as Lions.

A club which attains a donation of $5,000 and above is eligible to use 15% of what is given for local club projects. Your club will have to apply to LCIF for these funds and will be under the same re-porting requirements as any LCIF grant.

All donations that are made are eligible for Melvin Jones Fellowship recognition.

Is your club ready to become a Model Club and help our foundation expand our global causes and serve even more people? To learn more about the many benefits of achieving Model Club status, vis-it the Campaign 100 website, contact your LCIF district coordinator, or email [email protected].

Model Club Recognition Model Clubs are critical to building campaign momentum and rewarded for doing so. Commit to be-ing a Model Club and meet, or even multiply, the per member average goal of at least $750 during Campaign 100’s three-year duration. Your club will receive special recognition upon achieving each of three milestones: 1. Submission of Model Club Commitment form 2. 2. Achievement of declared PMA goal through cash donations and/or documented pledges sub-

mitted to LCIF 3. Fulfillment of commitments

Successful Model Clubs will include written and public recognition, a certificate and a banner patch.

Work Weekend

Every year, more than 1,500 individuals from Lions Clubs, Leos Clubs, Churches, Boy & Girl Scouts, Civic Clubs, corporations and other goodhearted people partici-pate in one of three workdays held in March, April and May held at Texas Lions Camp. Moreover, this is a great way to build team-work and spirit while benefiting TLC.

To those Lions clubs and Lion individuals that have donated their time to volunteer at the District 2E2 Eyeglass Recycling Center this Lions year. We cannot meet the growing demand for glasses without your help. There is still much to do to have glasses available for the missions leaving in the spring. If you have not volunteered this Lions year, won’t you consider donating 3 hours of your time to help those in need? If you have been to the recycling center this Lions year, we would appreciate having your help again. Contact any District 2E2 Eyeglass Recycling Center director to schedule your next volunteer session.
