Jean Marc MOntel
“This is a simple exhibition and it is not easy to describe simple things.”
“The stories that these paintings tell are full of wonder and joy,
as the people who have known sadness seek”.
“Jean marc depicts a world of horses, and as in a comic, they come alive,
they talk about their lives made of jumps, races, impulses and fears”.
“Are we these horses, are the simplicity that we can not be anymore?

Ganzo, scuola ristorante e laboratorio didattico
nuovi soggetti.
Jean Marc Montel will be exhibiting his paintings of horses and flowers at the Ganzo, Via de Macci 85/r, from February 18, 2015 to March 17, 2015. The gallery opening will be on February 18th at 6:00 pm at the Ganzo, School Restaurant - The Creative Learning Lab. The artist , a French-Italian painter from Sardinia, is excited to present his paintings depicting the beauty of horses and flowers.Montel lives in Montespertoli with his wife and two children The artist feels that horses and flowers have been the natural companions of humans since the beginning of time. The colours are the first thing noticed because they are so bright and vivid. He does not own any horses but has a passion for painting them. Montel’s interest in painting began early in life, growing up on the beautiful island of Sardinia. He used to be a steward at an airline before becoming a full time artist. Now, his passion for using his hands through painting, carpentry and fencing is a way for him to explore emotion. The artist has been inspired by the Renaissance and Spanish Impressionist movements as well as Pablo Picasso, Joaquin Sorolla and Kelly Ellisworth. He strives to combine his various artistic influences into a style of his own that is meaningful to him. In this exhibition, the artist uses brilliant colors to express the movement of horses and flowers. Having his work shown in Ganzo allows for Jean Marc Montel to be recognized by an international audience.

Vive in campagna
Inizia a
soggetti floreali.
compositive e creative. Utilizza smalti di colore puro,
specialmente primari e secondari, più raramente olio e
acrilico.
Jean-Marc Montel was born in Desenzano del Garda in 1965 to a French father and Italian mother. At the age of six, he moved from France to Sardinia where he moved until his subsequent move to Florence at the age of 26 to work for an Italian airline company. He currently lives in Montespertoli (since 2003), in the heart of the Chianti countryside, with his wife and two children. He choce to abandon the chaos of the city to seek new spaces and inspirations. He is a self-taught artist, having only taken formal art classes during high school. He began to paint at the age of 19 in Olbia, beginning with oil-based techniques and small canvas dimensions. He went on to use acrylics and enamels on large-sized canvases, which is his current preferred method. Jean-Marc began exhibiting in 1997 at fashionable Florentine establishments. In 1997, he won 2nd place at the “gruppo Artistico Argentario.”In 2001 his works were yet again displayed in Florence as well as in a traveling exhibition in the USA. After a lengthy pause from artistic endeavors, in 2014 Jean-Marc exhibited paintings on recycled wooden crates in San Casciano in Val di Pesa. His style is prevalently figurative, yet open to various creative possibilities and compositions.Jean-Marc primarly chooses pure, enamel-based primary and secondary colors, although, he occasionally uses oils and acrylics. He favors compositions based on geometric and harmonious elements on which he recreates plants, nudes, dynamic bodies, and self-portraits. He loves color and active energy; some of his works utilize mixed materials and are tri-dimensional.Jean-Marc has always maintained that he is not capable of drawing. Horses are a new and fascinating subject that result from a long period of study, reflection, and growth.
