1. Overview and Purpose:

The P5000 Digital Probe Microscope is a portable handheld microscope used to view and inspect both bulkhead (female) and patch cord (male) sides of fiber connectors as well as other optical devices, such as transceivers. The P5000 is ideally suited for capturing dirt and scratches on all connectors. The fiberchek2 program will archive pictures into a report format letting you know if the fiber passed or failed its inspection. The P5000 requires an FBPT inspection tip and is connected to the PC/laptop with a USB 2.0 connector.

Operations:4.1 Installation.4.1.1 4.1.2 4.1.3 Install Fiberchek2 program to your laptop by following instructions after inserting CD. Click yes to all drivers and direct installations if asked. Plug in the P5000 to the USB connection on your laptop. Open Fiberchek2 program just installed on your laptop. Do not use Fiberchek2 - Quickview if filing a report.

4.2 Operation.4.2.1 4.2.2 4.2.3 4.2.4 4.2.5 Connect correct inspection tip onto the barrel assembly of the P5000. (Figure 1.1) Connect optical fiber with connector onto the Inspection tip of the P5000. (Figure 1.1) Bring camera into focus by using focus control (Figure 1.1) on the side of the P5000, then use the focus % bar at bottom right hand corner of Fiberchek2 program on PC/laptop to get the best possible focus. If fiber is noticeably dirty disconnect fiber connector from inspection tip and clean with supplied cleaner. Reconnect fiber to the inspection tip and focus again. (repeat 4.2.4 and 4.2.5 if necessary)

4.3 Capture and Archive 4.3.1 To capture an image click test fiber! in program or click the quick capture button next to focus on the P5000. (Figure 1.1) 4.3.2 To save results in a report format click on archive! button and choose the desired folder the report is to be saved in. 1.1.

Note!

When a scope is saved through the file menu it will only saved an image in windows photo viewer, whereas if a scope is archived it will automatically be loaded into a report format.
