INNSA to raise treatment standardsAs one of the founder members of the Japanese knotweed treatment industry and a company at the forefront of the amenity sector, Japanese Knotweed Control has been a long time campaigner for improved industry standards, accreditation, legislative compliance and training and the need to drive out the cowboy operators that continue to undermine our profession. That's why we are delighted to be part of the steering group of companies behind the launch of the Invasive Non-Native Specialists Association (INNSA), a new industry body providing the benchmark for eective control and eradication of invasive non-native species in the UK.

Set up to encourage the highest standards within the industry, INNSA registration provides members with a recognised accreditation backed up by a comprehensive insurance backed guarantee scheme. Membership is subject to an independent verication process which includes the need to demonstrate nancial stability, professional competence and appropriate accreditations. This provides customers with the reassurance that an INNSA treatment specialist is fully qualied to understand invasive species and suggest the best methods for eradicating them.

Have you tried our new App?

To help with the identication of knotweed and other invasive non-native species, we have developed an App for both iPhone and Andriod phones which is FREE to download through your phone's Appstore or Playstore.

Accreditation and Qualifications

Accredited training and inspection is vital to uphold the quality of work and customer satisfaction. JKC is at the forefront as the only specic invasive weed control company in the industry to have the UKAS ISO9001:2008 Quality Management Standard, including National Highway Sector Scheme 18, which is mandatory for contractors working on highways.

JKC is accredited with UKAS ISO 9001 Management System through the British Standards Institute which is recognised worldwide across 178 countries. The 9001 award benets all aspects of our business from health and safety policies through to customer satisfaction.

Amenity Assured is a stringent standard for contractors ensuring companies work legally and safely and to the highest standards. Operated by BASIS, a government backed independent standards institute, JKC has been accredited since the outset of the scheme and fully supports the scheme in raising the standards within the amenity sector.

Safecontractor ensures all work is carried out safely both for the operatives, site partners and the public. An annual assessment takes place inspecting all aspects of risk and ensuring that standards are maintained.

Japanese Knotweed Control is a founding member of INNSA, an independent organisation raising the standard and professionalism within the invasive species sector.

All staff are directly employed by JKC and undertake our rigorous training programme which is continuous and constantly monitored. All are NPTC qualified as a minimum including work on or near water.

JKC holds a Platinum Award for construction skills with over 90% of our workforce accredited with Construction Skills Certication Scheme.

The App will allow you to send photographs directly to us so that we can contact you and provide expert advice on your problem.

Once identied, treatment and eradication of the plant is highly recommended.

Treatment OptionsStem InjectionUsing a specialist tool designed to inject a measured amount of herbicide directly into the target species, this process is by far the most cost eective, ecologically sensitive and timely method of treatment. It allows treatment to be successfully completed on Japanese knotweed in one growing season.

Traditional foliar applicationUsing knapsack sprayers or mounted spraying equipment this method applies a mix of herbicide to the leaves of the plant. The herbicide is absorbed through the leaves and translocated through the plant and down to the root system.

Excavation and o site removalExcavation of Japanese knotweed needs to be completed by specialists with all waste and spoil taken to licensed land ll by authorised carriers. This process is used when it’s necessary to remove infestations quickly. We have very competitive rates around the UK and priority space at landll sites.

Excavation and stockpileWhen time is of the essence, and it is necessary to keep the contamination on site, we can safely move the infestation to a controlled area of the site and treat at a later date. This can substantially reduce costs and will be supervised by ourselves throughout the whole process.

Excavation and siftUsing specialist equipment and teams of highly trained operatives, we can usually reduce the spoil that needs removing signicantly by separating the contaminates from the clean material.

Root barriersWe use root barriers on sites which have previously been treated or have an unknown risk as a precaution to prevent damage to buildings, roads and pathways. These need specialist installation by trained operatives.

Surveys

As every infestation is unique, a survey is needed to identify the target species, assess the extent of contamination, understand the environmental impact of any treatments and to accurately estimate time and costs to complete the work.

A full written survey will provide a report detailing all the information needed to understand the requirements to successfully treat the infestation.

A nominal charge applies to surveys due the in depth information provided. Please contact us for more information.
