Practitioner Register Committee – Definitions for Members of the Public

The Structure of the JCCP Practitioner Register

The JCCP operates a register of practitioners who perform non-surgical cosmetic procedures and hair

restoration surgery, such as dermal fillers, injectable toxins, laser treatments, hair restoration surgery and skin

rejuvenation – peels and micro needling. This register is separated into two equal parts:

‘Part A’, is for designated healthcare professionals who are registered clinicians and who are also registered with a government regulator such as the General Medical Council, The General Dental Council or the Nursing and Midwifery Council, The General Pharmaceutical Council or with the Health Care Professions Council. The professional title/designation of the persons whom we register on this part of the Register will be listed – e.g. Doctor, Dentist, Nurse, Pharmacist, Physiotherapist etc.

‘Part B’, is for all other ‘Aesthetic Practitioners’, who are not regulated by a government health care professional regulator. Practitioners who are included in this part of the Register may be Beauty Therapists etc.

‘Part A’ and ‘Part B’ of the JCCP Practitioner Register are sub-divided into two parts – ‘Full Registration’ and

‘Provisional Registration’. All Registrants are listed clearly on the JCCP Register to confirm the category of

registration under which they are listed under on the Register. Definitions of these categories are presented

below.

Definitions

‘Full Registration’

Full registration is achieved when the Registrant on Part ‘A’ of the JCCP Practitioner Register meets the Conditions which are defined below within two Categories of Registration – ‘Category One’ or ‘Category Two’ (either of the conditions that apply to these two categories must be met in full by Part ‘A’ Registrants to be described as having achieved ‘Full Registration’ status). Full registration is achieved when the Registrant on Part ‘B’ of the JCCP Practitioner Register meets ‘Category One’ conditions only which are defined below (the conditions that apply to this category must be met in full by Part ‘B’ Registrants to be described as having achieved ‘Full Registration’ status). Category One (Applies to both Part ‘A’ and Part ‘B’ of the Register) – Described on the Practitioner Register as ‘Full – Category One’ These are practitioners registered on either Parts ‘A’ and ‘B’ of the JCCP’s ‘Full Register’ and who have been described as being ‘Full – Category One’ against their name/record. These practitioners have satisfied the JCCP that they have met all of the conditions set down by the JCCP for entry to its Register at the point of application for the specific procedure/level of treatment for which they are seeking registration. Category Two (Applies to Part ‘A’ of the Register only) – Described on the Practitioner Register as ‘Full – Category Two’ (This Category will be in operation for a time limited period only as a transitional phase from 7th January 2019 – 31st January 2020 and will thereafter be closed to new applicants from that date). Registrants who are registered under this category will not yet have been assessed by the JCCP as having met

the Council’s full educational qualification standards for aesthetic practice. However the Registrants who are

registered under this category will have satisfied the Council that they are safe to practise as confirmed by their

current registration with their relevant professional statutory regulatory body (e.g. the General Medical Council;

The General Dental Council; The Nursing and Midwifery Council; The Health Care Professions Council and the

General Pharmaceutical Council). In addition to meeting the requirements set down by the JCCP to join the

Register, registered health care professionals are required also to meet the strict requirements of their

professional governing bodies to confirm that their practice is up to date on an annual basis. This provides

members of the public with additional assurance that registered health care professionals are considered to be

safe and competent to practise and are held accountable for their practice by their professional regulator e.g.

the GMC etc.

This condition applies only to Registrants on ‘Part A’ of the JCCP Register who have confirmed that they are currently registered with one of the healthcare Professional Statutory Regulatory Bodies defined above (and are therefore considered to have meet the conditions set down for entry and continuing practice and with that profession. Such practitioners must also confirm that they have been practising in their declared area of practice and at the appropriate level of practice for a minimum of three years and have provided sufficient self-declared evidence that they meet the JCCP’s standards and competence requirements to be considered by the JCCP to be safe to practice in each, or all of the procedures/levels for which they are seeking registration. All Category Two Registrants will be required to demonstrate that they meet all of the JCCP Educational Qualification requirements within a two year period following their initial registration with the Council, after which time those persons who met such standards/competencies will be transferred to Category One status as ‘Fully Registered’. Those Registrants who are unable to demonstrate that they meet the JCCP’s Educational Standards/Competencies within this timescale will be removed from the Register. ‘Provisional Registration’ – Annotated on the Practitioner Register as ‘Provisional’. Provisional registration is applied to those registrants on both Part ‘A’ and ‘B’ of the JCCP register who have provided sufficient self-declared information to satisfy the Council that they have committed to work in accordance with the CPSA practice standards and with the JCCP/CPSA Code of Practice for each, or all of the procedures/levels for which they are provisionally registered. Such registrants have yet to acquire either the required level of practice experience and/or evidence of qualifications required to confirm that they can enter the Register unconditionally. Provisional registrants must self-declare that they are working towards achieving the required experience, knowledge and training as defined within the CPSA Standards and JCCP standards and where required must confirm that they are currently undertaking appropriate professional and educational development to enable them to demonstrate achievement of requisite JCCP competencies for their respective procedural area of practice/level. All provisional registrants must meet the same general entry requirements set for all JCCP registrants and will not be permitted to progress to the next level of their JCCP procedure-specific registration until their admission to the Full Register is approved.

General Admission Requirements for all Registrants on the JCCP Practitioner Register (Parts ‘A’
