2013 EFMP Holiday Party Pics

Special thanks to the “SOC-I Salmon Dixieland Jazz Band“

ensemble, an offshoot of the 56th Army Band, for the fourth annual, interactive holiday concert on December 12th, for our Joint Base Lewis-McChord Exceptional Families. The setting at Lewis North Chapel was especially conducive for a relaxed afternoon of familiar holiday tunes. Children were able to wander, ask questions, or grab a snack. Two young

boys had an opportunity to play the drums while a third dozed in his mom’s arms. We truly strive to make all of our activities

“Family friendly” and inclusive. If you were unable to join us this year, please consider adding the “fifth” annual holiday concert to your “to do” list for next December!

On December 11th, Service Members and Families

at Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) were invited to participate in a variety of “meet and greet” sessions with members of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Families from the Exceptional Family Member and Survivor Outreach Services programs were given the opportunity to request autographs, snap photos, and have a question and answer time with The Big Show, Mike “The Mitz”, Daniel Bryan, Booker T, and Diva Aksan. The wrestlers were very open and animated in answering questions; clearly, everyone had a wonderful time.

Several small groups of the WWE spent the day at

numerous locations throughout the JBLM community gathering footage for the “Tribute to the

Troops” show. Activities included training and range experiences, the “Be A Star” anti-bullying campaign rally at Hillside Youth Center, lunch with service members at various dining facilities and a “WWE and Me” promotional reading celebration.

The final event of the evening showcased a match at

the McChord Field Hangar 4 entertaining more than 3,000 service members and their families. Featured entertainers included Cena, Mysterio, CM Punk and Aberdeen WA native Daniel Bryan. Recording artist Chris Daughtry and comedian Jeff Dunham with his signature puppets “Achmed the Dead Terrorist” and “Peanut” rounded out the night’s festivities.

Cena expressed the WWE’s appreciation and respect for

WWE VISITS EFMP!our U.S. military members citing their selflessness and dedication. This is why he especially enjoys visiting service members stating: “Being here with these guys and gals and being active with Make-A-Wish, it certainly brings validation to what you do.”
