Letter From The President

For over 40 years JBL has been focused on one thing…providing unmatched spearfishing equipment for predators of the deep. Travel anywhere there’s water and you’re sure to find our spearguns in the hands of hardcore shooters. Why? I think it’s a combination of our timeless designs and premium materials. That combined with JBL’s legendary accuracy and bullet-proof durability has helped hunters like you stone game fish shot after shot.

Using the right equipment is only part of the mix. Equally as important is having a place to spearfish and someone to hunt with, which seems to be getting more and more difficult. Many environmental and special interest groups fail to see the selective nature and fair chase in spearfish-ing. Federal and state game management organi-zations are being pressured continually by these groups to shorten seasons, close areas and restrict species.

We all need to take a proactive role in not only edu-cating the public as to the merits of spearfishing, but also in defending our rights as game fishers whether it be with a speargun, sling or rod and reel. Get in-volved with your local diving club and attend fish & game meetings or write them letters, our voice must be united and heard. If possible take a non-hunter diving, once they try it they’ll be shooters for life. It’s an amazing sport, nothing compares to the un-derwater hunting experience of being a predator of the deep.

XHD stands for Extra Heavy Duty and we mean it. Thicker alloy barrel, 3/8” hardened, stainless shaft, trigger mechanisms are carbide tipped and all models are equipped with 5/8” Hi-Mod bands that feature stainless wire wishbones. The XHD is the gun of choice for commercial and hard-core shooters; to these guys it’s a tool…not a toy. Three bands and a heavy shaft will punch through just about any fish, which is why the Shark Research Institute depends on the XHD for tough jobs like radio tagging 40ft whale sharks. Go big, go XHD.

Magnum Series

The speargun design that started it all, the JBL Magnum series of guns is probably responsible for more speared fish than all other spearguns combined. It’s no wonder, as this durable and accurate workhorse features a 1 1/4” drawn alloy barrel, hardened stainless trigger, shaft and point. Handles are constructed of two-piece cast aluminum providing strength and ease of maintenance. The Magnum series features two or three 9/16” Hi-Mod bands with stainless wire wishbones. Tried and trusted, this is one hunting buddy you’ll be glad to share a secret spot with.

Explorer 24 - LightningIf you’re looking for a speargun that’s big on performance while still leaving a little green in your wallet, the Explorer is perfect. Same quality as the Magnum Series: hardened stainless trigger and shaft, cast aluminum, two piece handle, but combined with a 1” aerospace alloy barrel for quick target acquisition and fatal results. Same parallel power source and low profile design make the Explorer perfect for cagy fish when the shot window is a split second. Lightning models feature Tru-Glide rail and 9/32” shaft. These guns are all about speed and accuracy. At the end of the day it’s not the flash, but the fish count that really matters, and nothing stacks them up like the Explorer.

Inspired by hardcore hunters in the Pacific, these specialty guns are all about shooting fish. The travel magnum is two guns in one; fully assembled 63” Magnum for large game, or as the smaller 31”Custom for reef and rock hunting. The combo comes complete with padded carrying case. The Magnum and Mini Magnum HI utilize a 9/32” Tahitian style shaft for greater muzzle speed for quick darting fish. The Mini Magnum delivers the same stopping power of our standard magnum only in a 1” barrel design. One thing is certain; with any one of these guns you’re going to have a stringer full of fish at the end of the day.

Don’t let the price tag fool you, the Carbine series delivers more bang for your buck than anything in its class. Just like its bigger brother, Carbines are constructed of aerospace grade aluminum and feature high-strength stainless shafts and triggers. They’re powered by one or two ½” Hi-Mod bands and a low-profile, pistol grip handle that makes for easy target acquisition. So, if you want a speargun that will bring home plenty of fish without breaking the bank, the Carbine fits the bill.

The gold standard in polespears, our one-piece models are drawn 6063, annealed for extra rigidity. The end result: maximum energy transfer with virtually no flex. We machine-swaged each spear for enhanced hydrodynamics. This provides greater speed with minimal water disruption. Travel polespear (two and three piece) feature precision machined unions for seamless fit and feel and allow for infinite extendability. Sling length is fully adjustable and the stainless threaded tip will accept any 6mm (7 if specified) point.

Let’s get right to the point, these tips are designed to punch through even the toughest fish, penetrating thick skin and hard bone. Constructed of hardened 17-4 stainless with a razor sharp finish they’ll make short work of just about any gamefish. Low-profile, stainless wings are quickly deployed and angled to grab tight and hold on. Sliding wing retainer allows for easy removal of fish. Our patented (#4685239) rotating design allows for 360 degree spin, providing greater holding power and minimizing the chance of your point unthreading from the shaft as a result of a fish “rolling” in battle.
