I visited Ashland in 2006 to install my solo exhibition at the Schneider Museum of Art, Southern Oregon University. I was impressed with the culture of the city and enthusiasm everyone has for the arts. The combination of theater and the visual arts is inspirational to the kind of imagery I would like to present to the committee. Thank you for your consideration.  Artists Statement  In my 40 years as an artist, I have completed many commissioned works for both private collectors and public spaces. My experience with creating public art has involved successfully working with many people including sponsors, project managers, and workers completing the installations. Among the commissions for public spaces I have completed is a pair of bronze figures for the Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon; a large wooden sculpture with four large wooden panels installed in the lobby at Meridian Plaza, Sacrament, CA; and a large bronze woman figure for Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas. My latest public sculpture is an outdoor sculpture commissioned by The College of Wooster, Wooster, Ohio; a large bronze globe with many bronze elements attached.   My large‐scale cast bronze or wood pieces consist of traditionally rendered figures serving as hosts for abstract and/or specific sculptural elements related to narrative themes. I tend to use generic versions of male or female figures for public works and choose narrative content that is appropriate for the audience and context of the installation.  I feel very strongly about historical references being central to the content in my work that appears in public spaces. Working within the context of a commission gives me the opportunity to research unique subjects. In turn, this enriches the imagery.  I welcome this opportunity and I look forward to making an in‐depth proposal.                     Page 2
